- OK, first the map type: Large, 70%, Continents, Temperate, Roaming Barbs, 4 Billion, and Normal

- Our Civ is China, the rest are random

- Difficulty: Monarch (the variant rules add to the challange greatly)

- First to play does 20 turns, then 15 for a while, and then 10 for the rest

- Rule changes: Paratrooper and Helicopter's ranges increased to eight. Helicopter payload increased to 2 (1 would just be cruel). Helicopters can carry wheeled AND foot units.

- Variant rules: NO loading units onto any ships that can carry them. I considered banning all transport-type ships, but I decided that would be too harsh, as it would rule out Galleys. So, NO loading units onto ships.
- NO airlifting. At all. Any unit that goes from one shore to another MUST go by HELICOPTER, or MUST be a PARATROOPER.
- We MUST win by Conquest. Any other victories, even domination, will be considered a loss.

I think that wraps it up. I might think of other rules to fix loopholes in mid-game, and I change those accordingly. I should have the save by tomorrow. I just wanted to post this first so I get a 1-day start on recruiting.

I'll post the save after I get one important question answered (they aren't responding in the Newbie Q): Can tanks and such be loaded onto helicopters? If they can, I'll just post the save, if they can't, I'll have to go into the editor, edit that, and then post the save. It would be very bad if we started and played the game, only to find out that we can't load tanks on helicopters!

Only "foot units" go on helicopters.

Thank you! Now, how can I change this in the editor. Because if I can't, it will really be one hell of a challange! Conquest with only infantry...ouch!

Sorry, forgot this, pic of the start:

Nah, I'll play 2nd or 3rd. Sim_One: can I take that as an "I'll play" post?

This looks like an interesting variant. Sign me up!

I'm a bit worried though that even with the increased range of the 'copters, a conquest victory might be impossible because of out of range islands, especially on a large map.

Don't worry, Theos, I thought of this. Every island is at most 8 tiles apart, and if they weren't, I inserted some where needed.

Edit: Fixed a confusing typo.

Do you mean every island is at MOST 8 tiles apart?

Can settlers be transported? If not, you could raze a city will no replacement and be screwed big time. Helicopters fly from cities.

About question one: Yes, I meant at most 8 tiles apart. Sorry for the confusion.

Question two: if settlers are foot units, then they can be transported. I unchecked the "Transport only foot units" in the editor for helicopters. If that means foot units can't be transported, than I'll have to redo the save. From what I can guess, all units can now be transported in helis.

I'll pick it up and play it tomorrow afternoon and have the results posted by Sunday evening or Monday evening at the latest.

Good, we have a full roster now. I was just thinking about how we are going to invade the other islands, and I realized something: Rebasing helicopters has infinite range. I'll just give that subtle hint.

Here are the results, I will have an SC when I figure out how to make one. Also, I just realized I played 21 turns because someone told me that palying through 3000BC was 20, I realized playing thru 3050 bC is 20, sorry.
Anyways:
4000 BC- Beijing founded, Wines discovered near Beijing

3950 BC- nothing
3900 BC- same old thing
3850 BC- nada
3800 BC- Zippo

3750 BC- Beijing produces warrior

3700 BC- We find a deserted Yayoi village

3650 BC- nothing
3600 BC- same ole, same ole
3550 BC- zilch

3500 BC- Beijing produces warrior
3450 BC- Worker completes road to bring wines into Beijing

3400 BC- nothing
3350 BC- ditto
3300 BC- " "
3250 BC- nothing
3200 BC- Nada

3150 BC- Barracks complete in Beijing
3100 BC- Nothing
3050 BC- same thing
3000 BC- absolutely nothing

Beijing is currently working on a Settler. Worker is working on a road for more Wines. We have spotted a Scout from another civ but can't make contact with it. I will have the SC shortly.

OK, Naervod, good job. Just one comment: why did you build a barracks before a settler? If you had problems with growth (which I doubt, because we are on fertile land), you could've built a granary. I don't mean to get on your back, but did this have a purpose?

I am just a little paranoid about barbs and also wanted to get a good military start so I bult the barracks. Anyways, thanks for pointing that out, I can use that to help me do better next time.
