I've slapped together a quick proposal for discussion of the far East. It includes my choice for the next to cities and roads to them.

I think position 2 needs to be a top priority for settlement. It's too good of a spot for the Americans to leave alone much longer.

2 could become a GREAT settler factory... I'm all for this :)

You don't have to adjust a city 1 tile SW this time ;)
 
i would even say: 2, then 1.
2 will directly seal of the landbridge against the us.

1 will then be a good extension.

but we should also seal of the "lower valey" around doughnut forest and the "upper valey" up to the "diamond mountains"

but this will mean:
stop the war, and produce as many settlers as we can in a very short time.
 
Well, the way I see it, we have a settler/spear group just outside of Bavaria. We have our second settler/spear group split, 1 in Bavaria and 1 in Morgana. This means that if we use these two sites for these two settler groups, the first city will be planted on the 10th turn, and the second will be planted on the 11th turn. It doesn't matter in which order, it will be on the 10th and 11th turns. I feel that's why we should do the NE one (#1) first, to block the advance of our nieghbors. The #2 city will go in one turn later, so there's not much of a loss there, but the #2 city will be safer because of the #1 city.
 
It's quite obvious that we all want site#2, and site #1 will give us excellent hill fortification in tandem with The Barrows. But I wholeheartedly agree with disorganizer that before we pick any more fights, we should spend some time expanding our borders to the west and southwest as well. We can regroup and plan an offensive in the process.
 
Well with 8 Temples in production that have an average completion time of 39 turns, I'd say the attack on Japan just had a wrench thrown in its gears. So it looks like we've got some time to regroup, but I'm not so sure about producing new military units, including new settlers. Also, I feel getting the Incense is extremely important, more so than putting young cities in the South and SW for the Japanese to caputure.

I like the city sites marked on this map very much, although I think that we would need to build another city 1 tile W or SE of the gold mountain at some point in the future to ensure that we're not wasting our tiles.

What I would now like to know, since I'm going to be polling on this issue fairly soon, is whether anyone else has an idea for the placement of our next cities and, if so, what is it?
 
Those temples are just placeholders until the gov decides what those cities will build.

I think these are fine spots for the settler/spear pairs we already have. They'll nicely secure the land bridge.
 
The main priority is to cut off the americans. If we can manage to build at both site 1 and 2, it's ok. But it's of the highest importance that the americans don't build on site 2.
So, to wrap it up, if the americans seem to take site 2, build on site 2 immediately.

Or take out the yanks.

I love it. i want to be mayor of the city at site #2. heck, I may run for governor of thi sprovince. (Oh wait, we don't have borders yet.) :king:
 
Anything on a hill might be tougher to take if we lose out on that spot. While 2 might be more resourceful, 1 would be an excellent strategic point. I can't argue with either for long Cyc. Great work!
 
Due to my completely screwing up with regards to poll timing this week, I'm afraid we're down to quick-polling to decide city placement again. We'll need city plans for the next several cities as well. We have other settlers in the queue right now. After the land bridge is secured I strongly recommend putting a city down on the spices west of Dacula.
