The Japanese threatened us during the last turn chat. They should die.

Seriously, I wish to get a poll posted ASAP, so if there any in disagreement with a simply Yes/No/Abstain poll for a declaration of war as soon as the military department gives the go ahead, please say so here.

I would also appreciate it if the Military department would give an analysis and timetable for when we could be ready.

War with Japan should wait.... Japan is rather large. And slightly far away also. I doubt we will have the economy to support the processing of troops as fast as we need to. We need to wait awhile and get are new cities developed.

I hate those accursed Japanese as much as the next Fanatikan, but I believe the time to wipe them off the Earth is not now. Allow us to recover from our recent war with the Aztecs, and then begin our righteous crusade.

We should wait untill our forces arrive to there borders. I strongly Suggest using Horsemen in the open field since I beleve in a successfull mobalized force :).

Thanks to some forward thinking on the part of our president, our army is only a couple squares away from one of their cities, as are a few more units.

The Japanese will only get larger, and their military is still smaller than ours.

I say get into striking position and then attack. It'll take how many turns to get our attack force to their border? Once we're built up along the Tokugawa Line, I say send the swords and horses and beat them like theere's no tomorrow and they're getting samurais today. Their insults cannot be forgotten.

The Japanese's Threats will not be tollerated. A Strike Team would be there within about 10 turn and then we can have the horsemen harrass the Japanese trade routes.

Before digging ourselves a hole we can't get out of, let's see what we can do to mobolize the most amount of troops while still protecting our homeland. We will need alot of troops to overcome the Japanese, and IIRC we are near the middle ages? Also, we can't spread our forces too much as they have roads, they have major bonuses, and we might get jumped by other nations.

I say as soon as it's feasible, let's go. We have several attack plans on the table. Let's get this decided on, switch our cities to a more military production stance and keep it there until we've secured the Iron Deposits in Japan.

How is our military doing? Does it seem that we are ready to battle? We should take a big bite if we attack, not take small nibbles.

There are 2 basic battle options. Go it alone, hit hard and fast to take a chunk, make peace as soon as possible. Get help (India for offensive support, America to be sure we won't get attacked from the rear), hit hard and long, make peace after 20 turns or when appropriate.

I favor the long haul and I favor it upon completion of the heroic epic. With military production in the cities we will be able to free our sword garrisons and get them in place to attack within 12 turns. Backed by new production horses for flanking maneuvers we can hit Japan hard. They would be prevented from counterattacking by India hitting them from their south.

Once again I find myself saying this - I really dont think we are going to have much of an option for the mythical "short/decisive" war.

I say go to war, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE - therefore - get those build queues pumping out military units NOW, and lets get some workers laying some strategic roads NOW

I think we should go ahead and put our forces near their borders and get ready to attack.

But what if while we are offguard, someone demands something from us and we refuse, so they declare war on us while our attacking forces are at the border of Japan?

I'm for hitin' long and hard too, until we take their Iron. Let's make sure we're prepared to step across that line before we do it though. I don't want to send our boys into a meat grinder.

I'm warry of this war, however I believe we will be able to win it, but I'm not sure at how great a cost or gain.

I believe the only safe route to this war, which is necessary given the threats from Kyoto, is to bring in allies like India and America to secure our borders, and then to strike hard at the high production and iron regions of Japan.

As noted above, once we break through the Gem Mountains, there is wide open horse friendly terrain.

Yes, I'm wary of this war too. We should have our swordsmen about halfway to Japan before sending our horsemen/knights into battle. Knights have greater speed, so they'll be able to catch up.
