In this game there will only be one way to win - by UN!

level is monarch, friend set it up so I have NO idea what the map is like, how many opponents, how thought the barbs are.

edited rules:

Conscript = 4 HP, regular = 6, veteran = 8, elites = 11

no cities on Tundra, desert, jungle

more oomph for battelship

(1) 4000 BC - Oh ****, we are the english :mad: I knew it! (goes after oliver who set up the game and tries to hit him over the head with Civ3 manual)...

starting pos is OK, river and floodplains and 1 wheat.

London founded - not soooo good after all :(

research burial in 36 @ 100% (is cheapest - does that indicate few civs?????)

(3) 3900 BC - find masonry from hut

(4) 3850 BC - more floodplain with 1 wheat and incense in view, mountains bhind it too close to be used as natural border :(

(5) 3800 BC - more wheat in view

(6) 3750 BC - Scout built, order warrior.

(7) 3700 BC -

(8) 3650 BC -

(9) 3600 BC - deserted village :(

(10) 3550 BC - settler found in the south - middle of a mountain range :(

(11) 3500 BC - Warrior built, another orederd for MP (then, we can go settler, settler, settler.....)

(13) 3400 BC - north looks great,south is sucky (jungle and mountains only)

(14) 3350 BC - Warrios, escorst gooy hut settler. settler ordered.

(15) 3300 BC -

(16) 3250 BC - silks in the south. if this was a normal game it would mean we have a neighbour - but I don't trust this ****...

(17) 3200 BC - York founded, worker ordered.

(20) 3050 BC - 25 Gold

(21) 3000 BC - find Burial, since we seem to be on an island go for Writing --> Lit and Map Making.

Looks like the Forums were down for about 12 hours. OK, I've got it, and I promise to play nice to any neighbors I encounter! (At least for now.)

indeed, another screwup of the upload... we had trouble at K4, too....

mod rules:

I based the game on my mod, which has the following changes:

- Ancient tech except Monarchy and Republic + ~1/3 cost.
- Max research time 50 turns.
- Hills can be irrigated
- Tundra gives no food
- Resources give more bonus (now it`s worth fighting for them even if they aren`t strategic)
- AI-AI trade is 100% on Regent, 110% on Monarch and so on.
- Bombard changed accordingly.
- 2 new cultural levels, 1 at 5:2, one at 3:2 so rate can be judged better.
- more Uumpfff for battleships (bombard now 1,5 times that of cruisers)
- age bonus (1 to 4 HP) for advanced units,
- better attack for nuke subs and subs,
- changed HP to conscript=4, regular=6, veteran=8, elite=11
- changed bombardment accorgingly,
- added bombardment for all bow-equipped units and all fast units with guns plus tank and Modern armour,
- added free units / town for Republic since now often Monarchy is preferable over Republic because of large Military.
- no towns in Tundra, Desert, Jungle
 
Henry, one suggestion for the bow units.

Give them bombard but with a range of 0. That way, they can't fire across a square but when you are attacked with a space bow unit in your stack, they will fire off shots and take down the HP of the attacker!! IMHO, its the most realistic and effective way to go about business:)

obviously too late for this one, but perhaps K7?? hehe

Well ... there's none on our small island! Here's the recap:

3000 BC, civ_steveI takes the throne ('er, stone heap?) Whoa - we appear to be island bound, by ourselves. If so, then maximum growth to fill the island seems to be a good idea. Change Settler build to Granary in London; put 10% to Luxuries to keep happiness in the meantime.

2950 BC, send scouts to unexplored corners (how sad to be a scout on a small island!)

2900 BC, ditto

2850 BC, York Builds Worker; set to build Warrior for garrison duty

2800 BC

2750 BC

2670 BC It's confirmed; we're island-bound and alone

2630 BC Granary completed in London, Settler started

2590 BC York completes Warrior, sent to London, starts another

2550 BC Barbarian comes over Mountain N. of York, Warrior recalled

2510 BC Barb now adj to York (over River); 2 Warriors fortified in York; 2nd Barb move in

2470 BC 1st Barb dies, 2nd moves up

2430 BC 2nd Barb dies, York builds Warrior, sent to London, starts another

2390 BC London builds Settler, starts another

2350 BC 3rd Barb approaches

2310 BC 3rd Barb dies; Scout sees another Barb coming

2270 BC, York builds Warrior, starts on Worker; Barb chases Scout

2230 BC, Nottingham founded, starts on Warrior.

2190 BC, Ack!! London loses 1 pop to Disease:( , Scout leads Barb around

2150 BC (pre-turn) Double Ack!! London is Diseased Again! :eek: Now only a Pop 3; (Change production to Temple to let pop grow to 4 first); York completes Worker and starts another

Barbarian camp is somewhere West of Scout and Barbarian (so don't runaway to the 'left', go right).

Any comments on fighting disease at this point?

Writing comes in 8 turns. Good city locations are SW of Nottingham on coast, and NE of York in that group of Floodplains.

Sealman should be next.
 
Only played 10 turns since I did not know how many we are allowed and I have little time tonight.

2150 BC: :sleep:

2110 BC: see above

2070: Warrior sets out from Nottingham to secure city site.

1990: repeat of 2150

1950: look up

1910: Warrior sets out from Nottinham to hunt for Barbarians. Barbarians attack our warrior, and learns the meaning of being clubed.

1870: Learned the secrets of Writing. Know trying to comprehend these things that we got from our local AAA office. Oh year, a Barbarian is wasted outside of London.

1830: The people of London riot over the killing of the Barbarian :confused: Must be because our warrior left the city. He returns and order shall be restored.

1790: London completes Temple.

1750: Another warrior sets out from Nottingham.

2 settlers are being build at the moment. Warriors are being shuffled out of Nottingham quickly to set up the city locations for settlers. place then where you want. There is a barb camp somewhere since we defeated two during my turn. Not sure where.
