Since most issues were covered in the last poll, this will simply be used as a discussion thread. It would be nice to have some specific things for the cities to build next. It seems that we need one more settler to allow us to build all three new cities and to give a space settler to road. Then two cities should probably build caravans and then the other two could begin city imrpovements.

The city spots. The winning vote was to build D G and the filler, so thats N and S of wheat and MD NE NE NE. Please comment if you feel this is wrong.

Quite alot of people wanted us to take guards to defend the new settlers and we do have a spare warrior in Eboracum, Renaux and a phalanx could be taken from Marl Downs but no one wants to build extra gaurds.

Finally what should these new cities build to start with? I think it makes sense for them to build a defensive unit to begin with.

Building good defensive units is surely reasonable for new cities. Let's look further as well toward longer term development. Perhaps a settler here or there, but I would like to see these cities grow in population quickly to enhance their productivity. For the island cities, caravans for delivery to Elysium aren't such a bad idea for extra trade arrows and the "different continent" delivery bonus. MD-3NE would be more suitable to build settlers.
 
Surely it's nice to let these cities grow, they've got potential!
All have quite some trade going on but it would be even better if all would have at least one established trade route. So it probably would be wise to put a caravan in each build queue but what next?
The problem I have is that we've got islands to the north and east I would like to settle, it would be a waste if the AI gets there first and picks the worst sites to found their stupid cities.
With three settlers in production the MD 3NE and wheat island cities can be established but I would like to see the two small islands to the north and pheasant island in the NE to be settled as well, we'll need at least 4 settlers for this. It would be nice if Boreum would contribute to this as well as other provinces.
So my suggestion would be to build a caravan per city after they've finished and then to let at least 2 cities build settlers to found new cities and to build 1 or 2 settlers for Boreum land-improvement.
 
I have the impression that domestic trade routes on the home continent are not currently such a high priority. I would like to see "low trade route priority" cities on the home continent bear the burden of providing settlers.

Island cities will give bigger payouts and more trade arrows faster if they grow quickly. I'd be heading for 3 trade routes each and even further deliveries for the bonus payouts.
 
I would only build caravans if their cargo is demanded somewhere. This early on we should try to get the most out of the 50 sheilds we put into each caravan.

If we have 3 settlers, we can build MD 3NE, put a second one on the eastern island then the third can start a new location. The Eastern island one can then build a settler for the other city if we want. At least that way, once we have a city on the island it is basically 'claimed'.
 
Marl Downs: Salt Caravan 42/50 in 2, demanded by Elysium.

Octavia: Build Settler after Settler.
Trireme: drop Dip on new Pheasant Island as patrol?

MD 3NE: serf on Fish, start Settler?

Ebor: IPRB $4 so Diplomat in 6.
Mord: Settler in 1. I prefer a guard network, so charge 3 times to build Road on old River Bridge Site. Also move the guard Dip N one, so it's 5 from Ebor Hill. Mord starts ... Settler?

Neuma: IPRB $4, Settler in 5, then start Temple.

I would prefer to build MD 3NE first, as detailed above. Problem is then Wheat Island. Trireme can be back in 2 turns, but there is no Settler to pick up, no Guard (except spare Neuma Warrior), no Diplomat guard either. Seems we need more Dips, and one more stout Guard - Legion? Not sure.

It's a shame there aren't more islands for the trireme to explore. I suppose it heads back to Boreum to collect more settlers.
