Our alliances end against the Japanese after 6 more turns. What do people consider a suitable goal for ending this war?

I suggest we take a couple more cities, and then let our neighbors finish them off while we prepare our forces to attack our next enemy, whoever that may be...:die:

I think we should take up to Kyoto, and maybe the surrounding cities (especially take out their iron). We'll need culture fast in those cities, since the Babylonians are #1 in culture right now (a guessimate).

I see Kyoto as a potential Forbidden Palace Location if we attempt to take the large majority of Japan

Same here, and we need a buffer of cities to protect it from Babylonian Culture.

I believe we should continue to push forward and take Kyoto. It is "THE prize". I think Kyoto is too far away for the FP, but that's just my opinion. We are in a fairly good position to strike. We have lost our alliance with the Babs already, and this may help us as much as hurt us. Let's move on Kyoto now and try to break it's defenses. If we take Kyoto, the capital will move to Osaka or Tokyo. We probably won't have the strenth to take them. But we have a strong military force knee-deep in war at the center of Japan. Let's use it.

I would concur with "Kyoto + iron confiscation" as a suitable war aim. Perhaps walloping the Japanese Gem city if and that city in the North Province as well, although they are more optional.

I would be inclined to suggest beginning construction of the FP somewhere in our heartlands and then finding a way of moving the Palace to Kyoto in a speedy manner. The reason for this being that the FP is no guarantee against culture flipping, whereas the Palace is 100% CF proof.

I just hope a "speedy matter" doesn't involve abandoning Bavaria!

Well, I'd prefer a well timed great leader... but if not, why not? Rather that than run the risk of having our FP flip on us. And remember that we're hardly a cultural powerhouse at this point...

Good point, CT. There's the new name I was looking for...
I could call it "The ________ Smokehouse".

I think Kyoto and Suo in the south, as well as the Gem City in the north are minimal gains required to make this all worth the effort we have put into it.

Take Kyoto, the gem city, and knock out all their iron supplies. After that, stop taking cities and just send out small bands of troops to tear apart their infrastructure and prey on the weak. Do as much damage as possible, and then offer peace (at a price) when our alliances run out. In doing so, we cripple their economic and industrial base, preventing them from ever growing back. A bunch of unconnected cities, without large shield production and lacking the food to survive (caused by us marauding roads, mines, and irrigation) is hardly a nation that can try to reclaim there lost cities at a later date.

We should take Kyoto, Knock out there Iron supplies and take a couple of there cities. Build a FP in Kyoto and use that area as a buffer zone between us and the Babs.

I suggest we set our sights on Kyoto(we should attack from the mountains to Kyoto's west - it only adds an extra turn). After that, if we feel we are strong enough, we should split our troops with half following the mountains south to Nara and half heading north through the mountains and hills to Tokyo. We should send our army Tokyo's way, as the city is founded on hills.

I believe that Russia or Babylon will take care of the iron in Osaka and any western cities. We can make assessments later as to whether we should go after Japan's smaller cities.

Also, let's start the march to Kyoto NOW. Having the majority of our strike force based in Plexenburg while that town's riots continue makes me (culture) flippin' nervous.
