Although I'm not by any stretch of the imagination an artist, I do enjoy looking at and learning about famous paintings. I can't get any sleep, so I thought I'd post a few, and others are certainly welcome and encouraged to do the same.

This one is called "Scotland Forever!" by Lady Butler. It depicts the charge of the British 2nd Dragoons (Scots Greys) at Waterloo.

"De Nachtwacht" by Rembrandt. It's this huge painting (sorry, don't have a picture) with a lot of darkclad man and one girl in a white dress with light falling on her.. It's in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and believed to be one of the most valuable paintings in the world.

Post as a .jpg, and use compression of about 15%. That brings the size right down, and the change in quality is invisible without zooming in.

My favorite is Leonora Carrington, her view is just magnificent
here's one of her paintings
the hall of the world

Hey maybe someone can help me out here. I can't remember the name of the painter and it bugs the crap out of me!!! Very well known... Had a couple paintings concerning Icarus, the guy with wings? Two different paintings on this I have seen. The man is blue with a red heart, one had a black background with yellow stars and the other I think was not a black background but still had the stars... Van Gogh? I looked through some books on mutilpe painters and could not find these particular paintings so I am unsure but I want to say it was Van Gogh... Any help or confirmation would be greatly appreciated! :)

Old Age, Adolescence, Infancy (The Three Ages) by Salvador Dali

This is actually my favourite tie, but I hardly wear it anymore, thanks to casual dress every day ...
