Q: Any plan to add popups for production completion, initiation of wonder constructions, and tech completion in multiplayer?
A: <+Jeff_Morris_FIRAXIS> Not currently. We wanted to streamline the process, though 'prefing' them might be a good middleground

It would be more than a mere 'good middleground', it should be considered that leaving the option out was an unfortunate oversight.

Streamlining is all very well, but if I wanted a click-frenzy fest to hunt down the cities that had built something before my opponent finishes moving his units and passing the game back to me (and me therefore ening up with 10 Longbowmen instead of the Mech Infs I wanted), I would have stuck to click-frenzy games such as the Command and Conquer series.

Additionally - if this is streamlining - how come I am now forced to make my friends wait 10-15 minutes (and likewise I have to wait for them) while I go though my Domestic advisor screen looking for those 6 cities out of 50 that built something? It takes me at most 30 seconds to go through 6 build pop-ups. I am not ever going to trust any governor - AI is not MyI - I know I am not alone in this.

The whole reason I like Civ is that it is NOT a click frenzy game. I like the fact that I am being asked for my decisions, and having time to consider my moves. I believe that is a reason a lot of people like Civ and choose it over real-time tactic games.

The whole 'turnless mode' should be sufficient to satisfy those people out there who are too impatient to wait a few minutes for their opponent to make critical decisions - and I am thankful it's there because I wont have to put up with playing against them. Now lets have some consideration for those of us who aren't so impatient, and prefer our turn based games.

I think I've made my point.

I'd say that until it is made a preference that I can't take MP to serious but it does have some sandbox appeal.

In my mind PTW is completely unplayable without the decision
popups. I so looked forward to playing against a friend and now
I have no interest because the game totally sucks when it takes
almost a second to respond to unit commands, and you have no
idea what your cities are building most of the time. I can play
the old version very fast because I relied on being prompted
when a city has finished something. Now, I forget to check all
my cities every turn and end up with crap coming out. The unit
movement lag has caused me to move incorrectly at least 10
if not 20 percent of the time. How can a game like Age of
Mythology let you control HUNDREDS of units in real time, yet
PTW can't even give you good response with a few settlers
running around. DUH! Its been over a month now and they
have only managed ONE patch that did not even come close
to making the game playable.

just bumping this thread cos I'd really like to see if Mike would like to respond

It was hard for me to get used to, mind you I've had the game less than a day so far, but in turn-based mode it's not bad because you have an opportunity to set queues while the other players are going. It gives me that "breathing room" that I needed when I tried to play turnless.

see how you feel after you have 50+ cities....
