This is the most satisfying method I found.
This way the AEGIS, Nuclear Submarine and Regular Submarine can carry Cruise Missiles.
The Nuclear Submarine can carry Tactical Nukes, while the other ships can't.
No ship other than transport can carry Tanks/Infantry.
Transport can only carry Tanks/Infantry, but it can't carry NOR use (obviously) Cruise Missiles/Tactical Nukes.
The logic behind this is that in AEGIS/Submarine there is a built in system to launch Missiles, and only in a Nuclear Submarine this system handles Nuclear Weapons.
Obviously, a transport can not Launch a missile nor can it carry an entire silo.

You can always check the "Airlift" flag for the Cruise Missile.
Do not forget to check the proper AI Startegy flags (id est Naval Missile Transport) for the proper vessels.

I hope this helps.

Bye

:)

It's a tabl
The first two lines are the features you can give the Vessels.
The third line has the features you can give the Weapons on the left, and the name of the Vessels of the right.
All the other lines are indications of the features you give the weapons to the left, and what each vessel is able to carry on the right.

I'll translate that for you.
Nuclear Submarine: Transports only Tactical Missiles [Able to carry Cruise Missiles and Tactical Nukes]
Submarine: Transports only Foot Units, Transports only Tactical Missiles [Able to carry Cruise Missiles]
AEGIS Cruiser: Transports only Foot Units, Transports only Tactical Missiles [Able to carry Cruise Missiles]
Transport: None [Able to carry Infantry, Tank, etc]

Infantry: Foot Unit
Cruise Missile: Foot Unit, Tactical Missile
Tactical Nuke: Tactical Missile
Tank: Nothing

Clearer?

Ah, so because those ships can only transport tacital missles, a foot unit has to be marked as a tactical missle.

:D much clearer thankyou

That's basically what I did in my mod and it works (the difference is I didn't give 'old tech' subs missiles).

Is there a reason why I cannot give Submarine or Aegis Cruiser the "Naval Missle Transport" flag? I followed the tips here, but cannot seem to get that flag option available. Strange. EDIT: Make sure you check the "Unload" box, that gives you the Naval Missle Transport" Flag option

:crazyeye:

Why give the Cruise missle the "Foot Unit" option? I'm not sure I quite understand the reasoning, especially if it has the "Tac Missle" flag. :scan:

Not criticizing, just asking, trying to figure this out.

Did u check to cruise missile as a foot unit AND a tactical missile? I havent ried it myself, but looking at the graph, i take it that since the sub is set to carry both those units, it can only carry a unit with both those tags. Forgive me if im wrong, but this is the way i figured it to work looking at that table.

Um, I don't understand what you're trying to do here. Why designate the Cruise Missile as a tactical missile and foot unit?

If you want AEGIS Cruiser and Nuclear Sub to carry Cruise missiles, just highlight "Tactical Missile" for the cruise missile in the editor, then highlight the "Can carry tactical missiles only" (or however it says it) for the AEGIS cruiser and nuke sub.

Voi la, the cruiser and sub are cruise missile carrying fools.
(They will also be able to carry tactical nukes: realistic).

Ah yes, but by doing it this way was so that the nuclear submarine can carry both cruise missiles and tactical nukes, wheras the normal submarine can only load cruise missiles (most subs can and fire em out the torpedoe tube.) Same thing for AEGIS cruiser, can only carry cruise missiles and not nukes. Thats where the foot unit bit comes in to play by tagging it as two things...however still you are unable to load a cruise missile into a foot unit transport since those cruises are also tagged as tactical missiles. Sounds quite complicated, but this is what im getting at!

I guess I don't understand. Isn't the Tactical Nuke designated as tactical missile and thus can be carried by a unit designated to carry tactical missiles? I don't have the editor in front of me, so I can't remember exactly all the options.

A land unit given the ability
Transports Only Tactical Missiles
will carry nothing.

A land unit given the abilities
Transports Only Tactical Missiles
and Transports Only Foot Units
will carry Cruise Missiles! I've used it to simulate Scuds...

Whats the point of simulating scuds? By the time cruise missles come around, almost all of the world is covered in railroads!

Im not sure about the submarine, Id leave that the way it was.
The Aegis cruiser is right though (I'm really going to have to try to use some of these modern age units)

No problem!
Sorry, I haven't been around and for some reason didn't get any e-mail notifications about the thread getting comments.

Glad it worked out for you.

So long! :)

checked the aegis cruiser to carry only tactical missles and only foot units
and did the same with the submarine.
what did i do worng?

Did you give them transport capacity? Did you give CMs the load ability? If not the load ability did you try to move them onto such ships from offshore?
