What do the citizens think about what path we should go down in the long run? Military or peaceful? What do you think our long term goal should be. I am more of a military person and I think we should go for something that gives us military superiority over the rest of the world such as FLight, but I also think peaceful advances such as Economic and later on the Corporation are good. I would really like some feedback on this.

Well, I will be happy with Explosive Engineers, then a combination of Democracy, Theology, and Bach's Cathedral.

We have just stumbled upon Feudalism, ruining our IPRB=10 and commiting us to ever greater military units. It was inevitable.

This is Deity, so I assume we will need more before finally conquoring the entire world. Economics is nice, but what really seems to matter is RailRoad and Howitzers. I would also like to try SuperHighways - Elysium is a good site.

Future Tech?:)
I usually try to avoid flight until I've discovered everything I want/need to discover before flight, since it ruins my SSC:( But of course we'll need it, and maybe I'm wrong in avoiding it.
Electronics is good, since it is the beginning of the modern era when cities start producing 30s - 50s without any problem:)

We will need better military units in the future, not only for attack but also for defense. As this is deity the AI will try to invade our continent and capture our cities sooner or later, we need to able to withstand this. Therefore we need to stay ahead military-wise as well. So I suggest a mixture of democracy, theology (Bach) and some military techs. At the same time we shouldn't forget to increase economy either (superhighways).

Duke of Marlbrough wrote in Turn 1300AD:
Democracy? I don't think we are ready for Democracy. Maybe once we have Bach's, have finished off the Vikings, and perhaps even bought a nice NONE army then Democracy....

Magnetism would free up some of our cities to support military units. All our Caravels would upgrade to Galleons and not be a factor for city unhappiness. Once we have Explosives, Theology would be good, then perhaps a straight shot to Railroad and The Corp? Maybe a slight detour to Elec for Hoover Dam? This is the fun area of techs.
I agree with much of that. Magnetism will free up 8 cities to support more military.
We can support a larger military anyway. These cities can easily add a war unit right now: RC TFalls NemoBay Mord Oct FA MT Penguin ... plus many new tiny cities.
There are many options. If we don't want Democracy, how about Leadership Dragoons, or Metallurgy Cannons, or Steam Ironclads? Ironclads will work well with our new Lighthouse of Trondheim.   We need a good poll here.

But I feel Bach's without Democracy is not an option. It will lead to support laziness, and then delay the leap into Democracy. One slimy Indian Dip is pinning down 4 units. Must we wait until the AI has bribed Our Glorious NUF Units before we realize the need for Democracy? Corruption now costs us 81.Arrows!

I'm rather a peaceful person, but I undertstand, that our world's military power is also important. Altought discovering Economics could be a good move, because it has a very powerful Adam Smith's Trading.

Hi Rexiu! Welcome to CFC and the Demo Game. What part of Poland are you from? I went to Krakow for a week earlier this year, and loved it

On-Topic: I also think that Adam Smiths is a must-have.

In the interim though, I think that we have a chance to hammer-home a military advantage. Leadership followed by tactics will see us well-ahead of the rest in offence and defence with cavalry and alpine troops (Tactics is a must-have tech if you can get it earlier than everyone else!). That would be my vote anyway. :)

I will probably post the queue in this order:
Magnetism
Leadership
Tactics
Meturallugy
Economics
Steam Power

If you think I should make any changes please do so by tonight or tommorrow morning as I will be posting the queue for Octavian's last turn at 9:30 AM PST tomorrow.

Good list. Another one to add might be Metallurgy, from Gunpowder and University that we already know. The Cannon is a terrific blast compared to a Catapult's, 8/1/1 with 2 hit points, and the great Wall comes tumbling down. We can grind over the land advancing under Musket cover. Our Crusaders and Dragoons won't need to knock their heads on all of the Walls.

Where to prioritize Metallurgy is anyone's guess. Not stuck on at the end, I hope.

Ainwood mentioned Adam Smith. That will earn us $21 gold per turn, plus we are building another 18 covered improvements.

Metallurgy is a nice one indeed.
We might need it in the not so very near future. When we've taken out the Vikings the Indians might be a good next target and by then we should make their Great Wall obsolete. :D

Adam Smith is also something we should build, we've got temples almost everywhere and marketplaces will folow, we could do without the costs for those improvements!

Naervod has posted Sunday 1400AD as follows:

Leadership (currently researching)
Magnetism (Galleons)
Tactics (Cavalry to storm Lighthouse of Trondheim)
Meturallugy (Cannon, elim Indian Great Wall)
Steam Power (Ironclads, great blasters)

I think this could be discussed before Wednesday morning, or polled. For example, if Tactics is our goal, why learn of Magnetism first? We have no military unhappiness problems at the moment. A Caravel can sink an enemy Trireme, a Galleon can not.

And what happened to Theology and Democracy? We have many troops in India, and with Democracy they will stretch farther. Also, we presently loose over 81 corruption.

I agree we need a poll. For centuries people have expressed an interest in Democracy. I also think Tactics and Metallurgy are more important at the moment than Magnetism and Steam Power. And we desperately need Sanitation!

GaryNemo (8:52 AM) :
Notice I have also commented on Science Dictator Naervod. Soon I must go to church. The speaker is "Iraq and Nuclear Weapons" - I don't want to miss it.
Jayne (8:53 AM) :
I commented on science as well. I think he forgot about Sanitation.
GaryNemo (8:53 AM) :
Oh, good one. You are very helpful, reminding me and all of us what to plan.
Jayne (8:54 AM) :
Well, RC is celebrating up, but will reach a ceiling next turn until we build Sewers. Elysium will soon follow.

GaryNemo (8:57 AM) :
Yes, RC is Size=12 now, I recommended in a post to cut food. 2 Scientists, iirc.
Jayne (8:58 AM) :
yes, swap wasted food for beakers means we research Sanitation quicker.
GaryNemo (9:02 AM) : True. Shall I post this in Long Term Science?
Jayne (9:02 AM) : ok

Thanks for the reminder about sanitation. All this would be so much easier if I still had the poster I got with Civ2. (its lost because I got it years ago).

EDIT- I will poll a revised queue soon.

Try to see if you can find NetHog's civ2 reference pack, or something like that. It has a tech tree that fits on one A4 paper (normal paper). It's a bit hard to see sometimes, but it's all right.
