Some of these moderators suk (not gonzo: he is ol' skool): they can be rude, ill tempered and take opportunity to stamp out free speech about civ 3. Heck if i didnt know betta I'd think there were some freakin commies around and this wasnt a chiefly American site.

They will possibly remove this bit of free speech as soon as they see it. Why? Because they can't take criticism.

Move my threads! Ban me! If I'm banned doesn't prove that this site has become a propaganda machine for the mods' own egos! It don't matter that more civers have posted on my threads than youve had hot dinners :lol:

And furthermore I'll take on any of u ****cks on in Civ 2 or Civ 3 multiplayer and kick ur a**:scan:

I have played this crack addicting game for years and i step up for old ed. He talks the smack to keep me awake, plays noobs to help them learn from losing, and is almost as good as he thinks he is. i helped atawa with myleague and have played everyone worth a crap. Read between the bull and listen and learn. It personalities like eds that keep these games interesting and sometimes funny. If you get mad its childish, i know, he make me mad at times:) but getting mad means getting better and paying attention and winning more. learn to compete in life and not hide behind the screen. Sure eds attitude probably hides some deep problems, but he will work them out, hahaha. Go america, Go Russia, hell, go everyone and kiss my rich butt on the way by, peace and long live civ (for everyone)

Man I support ED, this place should allow free speach. ED talks alot of shiat but in the end he is probally one of the best, if not the best civ players around. Whatever his opinions are it usually has alot of of truth to it, because he knows civ better then 99.999% of the people here. If there is a beef then u should should settle it like men, over a game of civ.
 
Are you guys DL's? Cause i don't get why you two would both register the same day and reply in the same thread about some great civer who is bashing the whole site and its moderators.!

We are guys form the MSN zone, we have played ED and know him well. If u guys ever feel like going to the big leauge instead of playing in the minor then drop by the CIV 2 room in MSN Zone. Anyone of the boys there,especially ED would love to give you pointers. It is ED is rough around the edges but to appreciate him u have to play him. Who cares is he talks smack as long as he has the skills to back it up.
 
So why didn't you guys just post this in the Civ2 forum? This is Civ3 General Discussions so i don't think you'll be getting many people.

(What's takin the mods so long?)
 
Well sorry for the confusion, it is a civ 2 room, but we have boys there that can woop ass in civ 3 also.
 
*sigh* sadly, none of the mods are on right now... at least none that moderate this forum.

BTW, if you guys would read the forum rules, free speech does not apply here... I mean, it says you can most opinions and such, but nothing offensive... you can criticize someones strategy, but not flame them/say stuff off topic. If you hate the moderaters so much, why do you use this forum?

Just got to thinking... shouldn't this thread be in the site-feedback forum?

Still, if you want freedom of speech, make your own board, please don't come complain about it on this board. You can read the rules, and if I'm not mistaken, it says something about freedom of speech. (That it does not apply.)

I am sure that you can beat lots of people, and lots of people can beat you, but oh well. (I can't)

I think the mods are probably asleep. :):(
 
I,m sure if the 'Mods' visited your hovel and decorated your walls with their opinions (spraypak style) you would get shirty too.
Unless you had encouraged the idea, in which case whaddayagonnado when the KKK turn up to express their 'freedom of speech'; do you want to be linked to their ideals because you allowed them 'freedom of expression' on your wall/forum.
Positive Freedom=Barbaric interpretation of freedom concept that emphasizes personal right to do whatever you want(I like that guy's car, think I'll take it)
Negative Freedom=CIVilised concept of freedom that takes into account other equally valid human rights, including the right to MAINTAIN A CONTENT SPECIFIC WEBFORUM.
But i guess if you're attention starved, negative posting is good for a quick fix:rolleyes:
 
If you want to discuss free speech at CFC, this is not the place to do it. In fact, I would suggest sending Thunderfall a pm rather than trying to make a spectacle out of it. As far as I can tell that is the only reason this thread was started...too bad I can't actually close this.
 
Civfanatics moderators have had a long reputation of not being able to take criticism. When something bad is said about this game or a negative feedback on their professionalism is given, the writer is issued warnnings of: "We will ban you. So shut your trap" I am completely taken back by their closed mindedness at times.

I suppose that Ed's fiery words rub off the wrong way on some people, but often times, it's because they take things too seriously rather than accepting his showcasing for what it is: It's a tongue-in-cheek kind of humour that keeps the game interesting.

Read his post. There's a genuine challenge there to civ 3 MP players, and as such, it belongs here in this general discussion. Yes, the challenge was issued in a less than gentlemanly manner, but so what? This is America, not the Soviet Union.

The mods on power trips, well, they often forget this fact.

Really? Last I checked this is NOT america. Your free speech does not apply here. If you post outside of the forum rules you don't get to post here. Posting here is a privelage, not a right, and if you insist on breaking the rules you'll find that privelage revoked.

Regardless of how wrong your opinions are, you are free to them, but not free to share them. You got a problem, then talk to TF, not that you'll hear anything different....

Anyways, this thread will be closed, if you'd like to start a MP challenge thread you can do so in the MP forum, but keep it civil.

@Ed, we've talked in PM so I'll keep it simple, I admire the fact that you issued a challenge for civ playing to back your words up, but please find a more appropriate way to do so. We have to maintain civility here and all that.....even if I would like to kick your ass ;)....I'm kidding :)

Anyways enough of that, time to close the thread.
