Since we are currently no longer able to support our entire military for free and there is concern regarding our present level of culture, I would like to suggest that we now put into practice the old plan to fill up the northern tundra with closely packed cities. This would both increase our ability to support our military and allow us to construct more libraries to bolster our culture.

The layout which I believe would be most effective has already been approved as part of the Longterm City Placement Plan that was developed at the end of Term #3 (see map below). All that remains for us to do is to actually take action and build those northern cities.

Please post any suggestions you may have on how best to carry out this plan, or any other thoughts you have that relate to it.

I support the plan. We can get an excellent gold boost from the additional army support. These cities will stay small and will slowly build culture. They can also be used as worker farms (and we are in serious need of workers). The plan should also incorporate MAG province and Sugar & Spice province. Settlers should be built by nearby cities that are at growth stop points (no aqueduct, insufficient development for growth, insufficient happiness improvements for growth).

There may be some need to modify some of those locations, Ek. For example, with the Indian city of Satsuma in its present location, I believe site R is no longer a viable location. Also, because of Satsuma's location, we may wish to settle in the tile directly between R and S in an attempt to flip Satsuma culturally.

Other than the omnipresent need for flexibility in plans such as these, I'm certainly in favor of further development in this region.

It's a good idea but where are the settlers to come from?
We'll need to identify cities that are at growth stop points (no aqueduct, insufficient development for growth, insufficient happiness improvements for growth). Ideally, we would exclude plan A cities.

S&S would be happy to build new cities of a plan could be layed out. When you work out the details, give me a call and I'll put some settlers into our queues.

While we're filling in the NP, we should also look for other filler city sites in our more productive area.

I support this plan, but I apoligize in that I can't place a settler in the queue for one of my two cities.

As i wrote in the demographics- domestic department thread, I am totaly in favor of any plan to "populate" our tundra. But the settler production worries me a little, even for cities at growth stop point, as they could be also part of the solution to our army maintainence problem, if they grow to town level with 4 support.

Mmmm. Site "V" is scheduled to be roaded and irrigated.

Definatley go with the ICS build. Although... someone did mine and road a future town site on a tundra-hill. :hmm: (that was a waste - and it's not even being used)

That's why we were bringing irrigation in.

I am pro thundra settlements - just look at my fine - allthough small settl...err city of Naerva. Much good can come from the colder regions!
