Thanks to Col, anarres and me can play a new game. This one is on Deity level. Col has made sure we were on an Pangea map, 60% water with sedentary barbs. Random age and climate. All six AI's and us are on the Pangea nicely spread out.

These are the opponents:

As you can see our opponents are no softies!

This is my starting location:

At least I got a good starting location. We both lost one turn because Col had to set up the game. Our workers did not move the first turn.

Well, let's play! And thanks Col!

Good luck, this one will be very interesting :D

Yup this should be a good one. Both players have reasonable starts with a luxury nearby. Survival wont be easy. It will be some time before the players meet - and a very long time if either get targeted early by a rabid military AI!

Hey Col,

I forgot to ask you wether you set up the AI players or if they were just random....

While looking at them again I see that 4 of them have an early special unit (sword, warrior, spear and archer) and the other 2 a special knight. Anarres has a special knight and I have a special sword. I looks like a true butcher-fest with early golden ages! If I have iron in the neighbourhood I am gonna join this party! ;)

Did you made this up? Or is it just coincidence?

hehe. The AI couldn't have been chosen better if they were hand-picked, which they may heve been...

I will post my start loc when I get home.

Would anyone be interested in another thread where I could post confidential information about the game in progress? Such things as 'my FP is being built here', 'I am going for a horesmen rush', 'here are my troop locations', 'this is my early strategy...', etc.

Let me know :)

Great idea anarres, I would be very interested in your story! ;)

We could post our maps in that case. Maybe people will be interested in it. Seeing our expanding phase take shape.

Meanwhile I am still not sure if the human player is on Deity level too.... (Helps with deciding to move the warrior or keep him as military police!)

hmm. Maybe col or mel could take the game and cycle through 10 turns to find out about the human level.

ERIKK, if you did a thread it would be nice to read it afterwards to see when certain things happen. For example, in the last game I would like to know what year your FP was built, things like that.

Maybe we should do them anyway, even if just for each other after the game was over. If no-one else wants it, we can keep the logs privately and publish them when we finish. :hmm:

Ok, lets finetune this tonight. We can post some pics and maps + story in these threads. Other people might want to comment on our decisions. It would be like a demo game only then with one dictator... :satan:

Maybe Col or Mel wants to represent the AI's.... :)

Of course people should be banned from posting advice in the threads if they are looking at both. This means pretty much everyone should be banned from suggesting stuff, totally, forever, without comeback.

I find it difficult to believe anyone apart from ERIKK and myself will ever manage to look at one but not the other. If anyone is prepared to say that they will only look at one thread, and we trust them totally (so most of you are ruled out ;)), then just maybe we could allow suggestions from that player.

If we go ahead with this and someone deliberatly (or much more likely accidentally) gives advice based on sensitive information from the other player, the game will be over. We will never repeat the idea, and I will cry a lot.

Lets not do it then. I dont want the game to be stopped. We can make our own logs (in word, with pics) and mail them to people if they wanna take a look. I agree: posting at the forum is asking for a jerk to ruin it for us (on purpose or not)....

So back to the website idea

I want pics, etc, so the website is the only other way than here...

Just fot the record the civs were chosen randomly - but I was rather pleased with the combination that came out. I might have changed them - but you two guys were nagging me to get on with it.

I think you're both on deity but I can play a few turns tonight and check how many people you can have before they riot.

I agree its very difficult to speak to one player when you know what the other player is planning. I think I managed it Ok for the last game - Anarres will confirm I kept some important stuff to myself - but I dont think it would be possible in a thread such as this. One wrong comment would ruin the game.

I think I can safely say, given the parameters of this game that you are unlikely to meet for quite a while and that you will therefore be operating independently for quite a while. I wouldnt therefore worry too much about over-revealing comments in the early game.

I think I disagree Col. If ERIKK knows I am rushing early offensive units it makes a difference.

There are many more examples of knowing the eartly strat of your opponent helping you, such as them not having any military units (apart from 1 warrior) for the first 40 turns ;)

You could get to writing, establish ROP's and gallop your horses through for an early conquest...

Fair enough - thats a good counter example.

I just thought that since you're a fair distance away from each other with several deity AI civs between you, that your early strategy is likely to be determined by your approach to the Ai and establishing your civ 'heartlands'. I think you'll have your hands so full early on that you wont have time to worry too much about what the other player is doing.

But there are many ways to play this game ;)

Here is my starting position as promised:
