1st of all, is there a way to duplicate or add in extra editor flags? I ask because I want Aegis cruisers to carry and laucnh cruise missiles, without them holding nukes and without subs holding cruise missiles.

Is it possible to make a flag, called sometihng like: "Tactical Missile2"?

I saw in the beta test mod someone mentioned aegis cruisers carrying cruise missiles with nukesubs carrying nukes, but I don't know how to make them do both seperately.

Also, I am making my question clear?
 
You could mod the aegis crusier to carry cruise missiles. . .I don't remember the flag, but I think it is the same as the nuclear sub flag. I don't have the editor in front of me, but it is something along those lines.

I don't know about adding flags, I've never gone that in depth into the editor. I don't recall seeing anything about adding flags, but YMMV.

Hmm. . .have to see about adding the cruise missles into my aegis crusiers. . . battleships too.
 
Another idea is to just give the Aegis a transport capacity, and as long as you don't flag it as a naval transport in the AI strategy box, they shouldn't use it to carry tanks around.

Or flag cruise missiles as foot units, and Aegis to transport only foot units. By the time you get the Aegis, there aren't many foot soldiers running around anymore.

Haven't actually tried any of these, but they're probably worth a shot.
 
taper that's a very smart idea. Make a cruise missile a foot unit. My only problem is that the cuise missile wouldn't be able to launch, it would just be ferried. This gives me the idea to make cruise missiles amphibious. If that works I am proclaiming you a creative genious!
 
Guess I'm a genious. If you activate the missile in the Aegis (like planes on a carrier), you can launch from the sea. I recommend increasing range though, or you can't hit much.

Not clear what amphibious would do though. I thought that just allows a unit to attack from aboard a ship onto land. Shouldn't affect bombardment units. Or is there a hidden ability under that flag that Firaxis never told us about?
 
You could look at how they were implemented in BTM. That's close to what you want (Aegis can carry CMs, subs can carry CMs and Nukes (very realistic, BTW)). We used the foot unit and tactical missile flags on CMs. They lauch just fine from Aegis.
 
awsome. The reason I was thinking amphibious was beause I am unable to launch them from transports, but I guess since I'm making them Nike wearing Nike missiles (tactical missile+foot unit) I won't need the amphibious part. Innitially I didn't want subs having cruise missile but not I change my mind. Also, this way its cool cuz helicopters can transport cruise missiles. (Hey, why not?)
 
Helicopters transporting Cruise missiles -- that might make them actuall useful... Of course the helicopter range is pretty short, too, but at least you can rehome it anywhere... Rehome it, offload it in a protected square, make it do serious damage.... yepers.
 
That's pretty close to a strategy I use. I like to load a settler and an MI up, rebase them to a city that's on the fringe, and airdrop them to a new spot. Saves time moving the settler there. Once the city is established, I can bring in new units by loading them into the heli and rebasing the heli to the new city.

It occurs to me if I have a SoD in enemy territory, and it's within range of my helicopter, I could ferry in cruise missiles. . . never thought of that before.
