SWE01:El juego de la sucesión tres Sueco

This is the first, in possibly a series of Succession games with a Only Swede Roster. After a discussion in the chatroom we decided to play with Korea.

Civilization - Korea
Size - Large
Opponents - 9
Map - Random
Barbarians - Random
Level - Emperor
Version - Play the World 1.14f, unmodded
Victory Conditions - All enabled (Except the MP Victory Conditions)

All rounds are a maximum of 15 turns. 24 hours for got it and a further 48 hours to play.

Roster -
GreyFox
Major Guevara
SilverBlade

I'm gonna play 20 Turns to get this thing going a "bit" more then if I would have played 15 :crazyeye:

Will post the save and log after I played the first 20 turns.

Our starting position looks pretty good, if it weren't for the mountains, would be better with more Hills, but you can't get everything here in life. I hope they are the home of Future resources, then they are ok :)

We also got a flood plain within our future Capitals radius, and a wheat resource on one of the tiles. Very Nice! There are also 3 visible Bonus Grassland tiles, Good!

Seoul is founded 4000 BC and now our people discovers more lands of riches. The Floodplain to Seouls southeast looks pretty big, and so far there are no desert to be seen. Another Floodplain is located to the northwest of our precious Capital, and there is a 2nd Wheat tile there, Good! Now our 2nd city will be full of food aswell!

I move the Worker to the Bonus Grassland tile to the Northwest of our Capital, because food won't be a problem for us with the wheat and floodplain, but our production compared to the amount of food could be, so a mine is needed.

In 3750 BC, just 5 turns from the start our Capital grows and Entertainment cost is raised to entertain our unhappy citizens.

In 3650 BC our worker finish the mine, now he will build a road for our settler the will soon be finished.

In 3300 BC our 2nd City was founded, it has similar resources to what our Capital has. It's founded on top of a Gold Resource, which many might think would take away the bonus of the Gold, but it DON'T, settling on Gold, and especially this early is a VERY Valid strategy. Our income from our cities are now +10/Turn and they are only size ONE both of them.

In 3250 BC a Chinese warrior walks near our eastern borders, I tell them to bring me to their Leader. His name is Mao, and he is Polite towards me. We are in a slight lead Scorewise w ith 80 Points compared to their 77.
They seem to be on par with us when it comes to Technology. We both know of 2 technologies which the other does not. They can teach us Masonry and Warrior Code, we can on the other hand teach them Alphabet and Bronze Working.
But for them to teach us their knowledge, they want our techs, AND 3 Gold/Turn + 58 Gold. I say No thanks, and continues my own business.

In the year 3000 BC I end my Round with 20 turns left on Writing, 2 Settlers being built with only 4 turns and 7 turns left on them. Our worker will son be finished with a 2nd Mine so that our cities can use 1 Wheat Fl.Plain + a Bonus Mine tile each.

Tips to the next player

- You will be able to build 2 cities at least in your round. Place one of them, preferable the first of them near the Wine resource to the east. Where you place it doesn't really matte, be sure not to place it on the Wine though, as it provides 1 extra food and that will be lost if you settle on it. A placement on a river is also nice, if it can grow past size 6 sometime in the future. Although DON'T place cities on FLOOD PLAINS, DON'T. Place the cities on Desert if you can, or Hills, even on Grassland, but not Flood Plains if you really don't have to.
- Keep building Settlers, but maybe we should build some Warriors to explore with?
Having Garrison isn't really required as we can just raise the Entertainment Funding to keep the citizens happy.
- Try to keep an eye on the Happiness in the Domestic Advisor Screen (F1)
- Try to build some Workers, we will really need some if we want to build roads before the settlers are built to their founding location (which I highly recommend), and to build Mines etc...
- And don't forget to micromanage, alternate what the Citizens are working on to time the training of settlers, workers etc... with the growth of the city.

Well, do your best, and have Fun!

In 2850 BC a second settler was sent out from Seoul, west towards the wine :)
In 2750 BC the settlers long (well, kinda) journey was finaly over. as they settled their new home (they named it "Wonsan) they could see that the river ran out into what seemed to be an ocean. The worker was sent west to build a road to the town (and later the wine)
In 2630 one of the two warriors built for exploration came across something red and grey lying on the ground west of our great civilzation.
In 2590 the strange looking line the warrior saw from the mountains turned out to be the border of the romans. The Roman leader, Caesar, had the knowledge of Warrior Code and Masonary but the miserly old bastard wanted 90 gold for the WC and 118 for Masonary. A third settler had been sent east and founed Pusan.
in 2550 BC Wonsan started building a worker to help connecting the wine (I want wine!)
In 2510 a second warrior that had been sent north found some wery nice looking stone...there might be more :) At the same time to the Souht-west our warriors found some Incense. When you inhaled this strange incense all your problems and worries just seemed to float away, nice! :)
In 2350 BC the worker in Wonsan was finished.

And here my story is at an end.

Tips to the next player
A city to the north next to the game and gems would be nice. :)
Also, whit the romans being so close and all maybe some defence in our cities could be a good idea

Next in line is me

Will be playing really soon, but first I want to post a nice pic from GF:s apartment (can be seen in the members photo area, in near future).

Well, the craving for civ was too great. The pic will be posted after my turn.

Great!! I always wanted to see GF´s apartment :p

2230 road to wine complete, Wonsan changes production from worker to spearman, the warrior in the city heads out to explore. Contact witch Egypt establish, they got these techs: masonary, pottery, warrior code, cermonial burial, the only got 2 cities, 10 gold

deal: masonary+cermonial burial+warrior code in ex-change for alphabet+120 gold, but we put that deal on hold.Instead bought cermonial burial for 53 gold.

2190 Pusan completes warrior, worker production started, contact with japan

they got: masonary, pottery, the wheel, warrior code, iron working, mysticism and 3 cities, 0 gold

2150 - scientist discover writing, embassy created in rome 28 gold - 2 archers as garrison, a spearman is complete in 3 turns, they got horses
embassy created in beijing 37 gold - 2 luxuries, 2 spearmen as garrison, building the oracle (which reminds me of a TV-series called Bird of Prey, but that was off-topic)

Pyonyang completes settler, start training simple men to become fine spearmen

2110 Shamp'o founded, contact with america, they got masonry, pottery, the wheel, warrior code, iron working, mysticism and 5 cities, 12 gold, they have communications with perisans and vikings

deal with americans, we get contact with vikings and persia, mysticism and iron working,12 gold for writing

deal with persia, we get masonry and 41 gold for writing

deal with vikings, we get the wheel, warrior code, pottery and 2 gold, for alphabet and mysticism

deal with romans, we get warrior code and 3 gold for pottery and cermonial burial

now we see that horses and iron are within our borders

2030 Chej founded

1830 the americans are building the pyramids

1750 explorer too much of persias territory, so they demand that we leave - ofcourse we obey.

Tip to next player
- Don't need to because it's GreyFox
- just a hint don't forget to build defences, I feel that the Romans are up to some serious backstabing.

SAV-file

1700 BC - The road to the Incense is completed, now we don't need any more Entertainment Funding, and we are getting 25/turn.

Didn't take many notes cus nothing much happened...

I moved the first settler that was built a somewhat far way south to secure the Ivory, that will be needed to build whichever wonder we will build in Seoul, it is building the Pyramids at the moment, with 96 shields invested and 51 turns to go at the cities current shield per turn amount. Build the city were the Settler is located.

Hyangsan was built the last turn only two tiles south of Wonsan, on a desert til, surounded by mostly desert, but also a lot of Floodplains, in the future it will be pretty productive if we MINE the desert and let the floodplains be the city's food income.
It's building a Worker now, but the next player can change that if he so pleases.

A warrior is being built in Wonsan and after that I queued a Settler, I also did that in P'yongyan, as we need to take some area before it gets too crowded.

I also Moved some workers and started to build a road to the horses, because we need to build some Chariots to upgrade later to Horsemen for an somewhat early war, probably against Rome...

1475 BC- Majorsville built on the hill near the ivory
1400BC- Horses were connected by road to our capitol. One of the exploring warriors were pulled back to strenghten our defences.
1375 BC- Seoul would riot so the citizen working on one of the floodplains were turned into an entertainer.
1325 BC- An embassy was established in Trondheim: Pyramids in 17 turns, 1 horse, irion in city-radius. Another embassy was built in Whasington: Pyramids in 19, 1 iron and 1 horse, 2 lux., 5 cattle and 3 wheat in city radius (!!!)
1275 BC- The Ottomans buildt the oracle. Rome declared war on the Americans (!!!)
1175 BC- A chariot was completed in Chej
1150 BC- Lincoln demanded 69 gold, I said yes (call me a coward but I didnt want to get drawn into a war at this point, we are not ready...and I mean 69 gold, we get it back in two turns)
Bought horseback riding from the vikings for 115 gold (abit stupid to produce a chariot one turn before we got horseback riding but....I didnt think about that). :p

Tips to the next player:
Get Literature before the Pyramids is built or I will kick your ass :)
(I´m tired)

http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads3/SWE.SAV

Why did you buy Horseback riding? We could have continued training chariots to upgrade later and get Horsebackriding with the Great Library.

And sometimes consider raising the entertainment funding to keep the citizens happy, if it costs too much just for one citizen make an Entertainer in the city as you did, but we need all the sheilds we can get in Seoul, and I know this was a floodplain tile, but Food means we get more citizens, and they can be placed on somethings that gives us shields.

Finished with my turn.

I can hint already now that we did get what we wanted to get. Who said that I is cryptic?

1050 BC - america and rome signs peace treaty, perisa build The Colossus, The Vikings are building The Great Lighthouse
1025 BC - Knowledge of Litrature aquired, America completes the pyramids, sets research goal towards map making
925 BC - Pyongsong founded, Japan requested an audience - they want literature, we get philophy, but we decline
900 BC - Shamp'o completes temple, Taejon founded, the Vikings are not too found of our hard scouting, one warrior moves out of their territory, the Americans are building the Great Libary
800 BC - Paegam is founded, China request audince, they want territory map+literature, we would get territory map, but that deal is not good for us, our people want to build the Forbidden palace
730 BC - the great libary is complete in the capital
710 BC - America declares war on Vikings, gains Mathematics, Philosophy and Code of Laws (thanks to the great libary).

Tip to next player
- Plz use more micromanengment than I did in my turn
- Whatch out for our inclosing neighbours
- Expand, build more cities

http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads3/Korea.SAV

Preturn

Changed the Spearmen being built in Pyongsong to a Temple. Same thing in Taejon, and in Majorville.
And why are we researching at 10% when we got the Great Library? I lower it to 0%, which gives us another 5 Gpt.

670 BC
The Scandinavians complete the Great Lighthouse.

Tacitus has completed his great History of the World
"The Happiest Nations of the World"
1) The Glorious Koreans
2) The Great Chinese
3) The Fine Ottomans
4) The Mediocre Americans
5) The Puny Persians
6) The Pathetic Romans
7) The Hopeless Egyptians
8) The Forgotten Aztecs

650 BC
We get Polytheism because of the Great Library.
Inch'on completes the worker, a Temple is started.

630 BC
Nothing much...

610 BC
The Americans completes the Great Wall in Washington. (Their start is just crazy )

590 BC
Temple finished in Seoul, Granary started.
Paegam finished a warrior, Temple started.

570 BC
We got Currency because of the GLib.

550 BC
We get Construction from the Persians and the Americans, which means that we enter the Middle Ages.

530 BC
Nothing much...

510 BC
America and Scandinavia signed a peace treaty. ( Darn :p )

490 BC
Nothing Much, a horseman regiment was completed.

470 BC
Chej finished it's Barracks, a warrior regiment is started, which will be a future swordsman or more probably a Midieval Infantry.

450 BC
Manp'o founded. A temple started.

430 BC
Traded Furs and Territory Map from Japan for Ivory and 103 Gold. They Got 7 Cities, 5 of them Tundra cities... suckers :p And they got 2 Iron sources... and Almost Horses, but the Chinese will most probably get that one.

410 BC
Nothing Much...

390 BC
A warrior finished in Wonsan, a barracks finished in Seoul, started a Horseman there.

swe01_prev.jpg

The Blue dots are what I think should be future City spots.

For the next player, try building a Settler in Wonsan, and build the Cities on the locations I suggested if you want to... build them where ever you want if you find better positions.

Build Veteran Warriors and Veteran Horsemen, mix the amount, the Warriors are going to be Upgraded to Midieval Infantry, and the Horses used as they are or Upgraded to Chivalry (a tech we can research ourself when we get Chivalry if you want to...)

http://medieteknik.bth.se/frst01/swe-390Bc.zip

350 BC- Barracks built in Shamp´o. Inch´on changed production from tempel to library (I wanted the culture)
330 BC- Traded Literature to preatty much everyone (except Egypt). We got: Persia- 44 gold, spices, TM. America- 36 gold, WM. Japan- 106 gold WM. Viking- 16 gold, WM. China- 116 gold.
America started to build the Hanging Gardens. Majorville culture expanded and the iron came whitin our borders.
310 BC- Moved some workers to build mines in the hills around Seoul.
290 BC- Taejoy completed a tempel. Upgraded two warriors to swordsmen (for defence)
270 BC- Two horsemen completed. A settler in Wonsan.
210 BC- Kaesong founded on one of the spots GF pointed out. America declared war on the Vikings again (the Vikings must have some weapons of mass-destruction or something :p )
190 BC- A settler complete in Pusan.
170 BC- We got The republic and Monarchy from th Great Library.
150 BC- Library completed in Inch´on. Seoul grows to 11 pop and some entertainment is needed.

Tips to next player:
You can put the entertainer in Seoul to work again and raise the lux. rate in stead, some people seems to like that better :crazyeye:
I´ve moved most of our military to the cities near the roman border. I feel that soon we are stron enough to go to war. As I see it we can attack either the Romans or the Americans. The Americans got some nice cities but the Romans are weaker.

I know you mean me :p

But it's only in different situations, right now with that many Citizens and no wonder being built, I would say a entertainer is ok... unless many cities are unhappy...

ROme first, America Next...

150 BC - Persians are building The Hanging Gardens, increases science-rate to get access to theology quickly (we can afford to have net loss in our treasury)

130 BC - Chonju are founded starts building spearman

110 BC - Sends out some workers for clearing the bush of Chej

90 BC - Culture strengthen in the city of Inch'on, America request an audience, they want us to form a alliance vs, the Vikings+ROP (best deal as above+ 2 US workers+world map+26 gold) tempting to form the alliance with american vs. vikings, but hey we shall not fight our ancestors (also known as the glorious Vikings). So american can try to wage war against the all so mighty Scandinavians.
China request an audience, they wants territory map+1 gold - we get Mao's territory map, the Chineses must have eaten too much rice, their brains are all mushy, we already got their territory map

70 BC - Chej enjoys when her bush is trimed ;)
America completes The Hanging Gardens

50 BC - not much, just some pleasure sounds from Chej

30 BC - Citizens in Seoul are order to start building the Cathedral (well, they are not about to finish it, they will change to a great wonder in 11 turns when we get thelogy), A warrior is sent to Kaesong, I fear we will get backstabbed by the rice-eating chinese people, we lost our supply of Furs! förhandla with Japan, we have furs again! (deal = furs - we gave ivory+88 gold), some minor demonstrations in Seoul (nothing that we can't handle, SWISH!the whip is brought back in the Korean society to bring back order in the streets of Seoul, while we are at it Chej gets some spanking also)

10 BC - Temple complete in Hyangsan, as as said the whip would bring back order in Seoul and so it did, but for some fun for the current ruler of Korea Chej gets some more spanking (she seems to enjoy it), Fortress near the city of Shamp'o is in progress, Push the science-rate to 100%! (we will get theology in 7 turns), the worst thing happens ROMANS DECLARED WAR ON US!!!

50 AD - People loves us, they offer to expand our palace. Ok, the citizens likes wartime ;) Lost supply of Spices

70 AD - Rome sends 2 legionär to the front-line, 2 horsemen are now elite, 1 spearman is elite

90 AD - We now masters the secret of Feudalism, we also know thelogy now (that hard pushing of the science-rate paid of), increas luxuary level to 10% and lower science to 10%, researching printing press, the goal is democracy, starts building Sistine Chapel (complete in 33 turns), the shaving of the bush of Chej is now complets (she looks good cleaned shaved)

-=-=--{WAR VS. ROME}--=-=-
Victory Loss
3 horsemen 1 swordsman
4 spearmen
1 warrior
3 archers
2 legonary

Our troops slayed 13 units and only lost one in the war against Rome.

[I will edit this post later,GF sav-file will also be attached]

Chej and bush  ....You´re sick man, sick! But I like you anyway :)

Btw: where did rome get the iron for their legions from?

From Japan I think, I made an alliance with them against Rome in the start om my round. But I havn't played a turn yet... me and Silver are hooked up in a game of Diablo 2... will play later.

Edit: WHich means I got the game...

Turn 0: 110 AD
Moved Veteran Warrior from Hyangsan to Wonsan, and upgraded him to Medieval Infantry. Moves an Elite Spearman to Shamp'o and Upgrades 6 spearmen to Pikemen. The Romans havn't got any Iron of their own, but seems to be trading it from Japan, this is MOST unfortunate, and should be stopped.
I traded for an Alliance against Rome with Japan, they got the Republic for it, no biggie cus everyone but Egypt has the tech.
I traded Mathematics to Egypt because they are so backwards they could need the help :p
Got 7 Gold and an updated WM.
Scandinavia, Persia and Egypt look so small on the map. All our neighbours are much bigger.
Changed from Pikeman to Med.Infantry in Wonsan, P'yongyang and Chej.
Changed to Library in Kaesong.

Turn 1: 130 AD
A spearman and a damaged swordsman died by legionary swords.
Our Units are withdrawn from Roman Territory, to be upgraded later.
A spearman and 2 Swordsmen are upgraded in Shamp'o.
Changed a citizen working a mountain in P'yongyang to a scientist and lowered the research to 0%.

Turn 2: 150 AD
Traded spices from Persia for 208 Gold and world map

Turn 3: 170 AD
We got Engineering through the GLib.
Manp'o finished it's temple, Library started.

Turn 4: 190 AD
Upgraded units, etc...

Turn 5: 210 AD
Moved units to invasion point.

Turn 6: 230 AD
Captured Veii with some losses, but the Romans lost more.

Turn 7: 250 AD
Seoul Rioted... didn't notice our deal on Furs was no more...
Got Furs and 8 Gold from Japan for 2 Luxuries.
Put out my whip and rushed a Barracks in Inch'on.

Turn 8: 260 AD
We got Chivalry through the GLib.

Turn 9: 270 AD
We get education... the Age of Free Knowledge sharing has ending.
Changed research to Music Theory and 100%, I want the J.S. Bachs Cathedral.

Turn 10: 280 AD
We take Rome! Lost 1 Knight, our infantry wasn't needed in the invasion.

Turn 11: 290 AD
The Romans cut the road to our horses.
Our Med. Infantry takes Pompeii.

Turn 12: 300 AD
Scandinavia and America signed a Peace Treaty.

Turn 13: 310 AD
Nothing much... Units recovers from the battles...

Turn 14: 320 AD
Nothing much... Units recovers from the battles...

Turn 15: 330 AD
Persia Declares war on the Americans.

We will get Sistine Chapel in 15 turns, it will need a citizen worksite change soon I think, because I think it is starving.

We could change Sistine to something else, Sun Tzu or JS.Bach's Cathedral. But I think we should rather start JS.Bachs AFTER we get this wonder.

Keep attacking Rome, THINK about which terrain it is, don't attack over RIVERS, etc...

Use both Infantry and Cavalry (ie Knights...).
Repel the resistors before moving on, etc...
Well you know the drill.
