Greece will give us 206 gpt in exchange for a MPP and gems. This would allow us to finish our research of medicine in 10 turns because we could put science at 100% for that time, while still making a decent profit.

MPPs are very risky, but this one may well be worth it.

I beleve we should go ahead and do this agreement :).

206 gpt..... This is 206 gpt.... This deal is a 100% must have.

We may also find greece to be a valueable allie in the future.

Newton's still won't help us.... Won't effect us in research at all.

It might bump 10 turns to 9, you never know.

Very little chance.... It would have to be on the very edge of being 9 turns already.

If we do this getting the ToE would be even better.... beef up are science research + get to extra techs to gain the lead and we could stay at the top for awhile.

Regardless, 10 turns is nice compared to 40. But, Strider - be patient on ToE. We don't know what other techs other civs might have (remember, we need 4 techs. We can't build it right now). Also, most will have steam once we finish medicine, so that means steam's research could be 4-6 turns (if we're lucky). Then that's a poll on the cost for steam vs. 2000g or so. :) Greece is being VERY generous to us.

Also, this is from the FA post:

Granted, the very nature of a MPP changes the current strategy of the game, not to mention outright dangerous.

Pros: "Let us draw off the wealth of distant nations" ;)

- It would VASTLY increase science output (we could possibly go very near, or at 100% and still generate income - based on current scientific data). We can get Medicine in 10 turns at 100%, but at a deficit of 124gpt. The deal would change that to a surplus.

- It would solidify relations with Greece

- The extra income would let us keep a head up in science

- We can cut down on Greece's research time

- It will speed up our research of Medicine (and steam) - that means within 2 full (10 turn) turn chats if we're lucky.

- If Greece cancels the deal, it's a rep hit for them.

- Greece has an MPP with England, so England WILL fight Persia. Also, France is in the war against Persia.

- Greece is commercial, so they can recoup the wealth.

- Greece has generally been peaceful this game.

- Greece, France, England and us have a common enemy - Persia.

- If not used for science, we can upgrade our units, and rush buildings/units.

Cons: "Gimme more SOLDIERS noble leader...!" :soldier:

- MPPs means war with a potential trading partner/ally if they decide to attack Greece.

- MPPs can get ugly quick if we don't know how to use them.

- Our income would be reduced to a much smaller amount with 100% science (but could be negated by trade)

- Greece could get bold and start attacking other nations (bringing us into the war)

- It would disrupt our 0% strategy, and we'd need to tread carefully with an MPP strategy.

--------------------

One other thing I want to add:

We have trades and treaties ending (most of them) in 1 turn. Total, this will give us 60 gpt back, for over 140gpt surplus if we take this deal. (if not -that is, increasing science to 100%- , we'd have over 550gpt)

Spammer :P

Anyway.... I think the advantage's far out weigh's the disadvantage's.... Who cares if they bring us into a war? We've been in plenty of them already. Also were getting +200gpt. We could mass up huge amounts of units with that.

I am in support of this action NOT as trade leader but as a citizen. The extra income nearly DOUBLES our income and gives us a fighting chance of turning the tide of the future.

Oct - I found the deal and told eyrei. ;)

Sign it. We need the cash.

I am against this deal. This is folly!!! Are we trying to get ourselves killed? Why dont we all jump in front of trains! You are letting the 206gpt blur your vision. This is a GREAT sum of money, but at a terrible cost. Do we really want a re-inactment of WWI? MPP's are very foolish and in the end will end up costing us more. Have we thought about why Greece is offering us so much? Most likely because having us draged into their stupid wars is to their advantage. Who knows who they are waiting to attack. They have laid queit for thousands of years, but with this treaty we might be awakening a for more terrible beast than we here in Fanatika have ever seen! This MPP will be our downfall. Be weary Fanatikans, war looms on the horizon.

Goonie, calm down. :) Greece has the same enemies that we have: Persia. They have an MPP With England, and we have an allience with France against Persia. we all have a common enemy. Not once has Greece declared war (except for only in activation of an MPP and the Zulus building a city in their territory). Greece is one of the most peaceful nations, and we have to use that to our advantage. The only other commercial civs are:

England - behind in tech, and they only have size 3-6 cities.
India - only 1 city... in the jungle!
France - Embroiled in a couple of wars and isn't as well off as Greece. France is more aggresive than Greece in this world.

Besides, we've ALWAYS been at war...

20 turns is a long time. Greece might fancy a new enemy in those 20 turns. I do not want us locked up in deal that may prove very hurtfull to Fanatika.

If we've learned anything from this Demogame, it's that war is fun! :soldier:
I say sign the deal, take their money, and darn the consequnces!
