Universal Suffrage is ours, and with it comes our Golden Age. While this will prove alarming to some, I really don't see any need to panic. Here are some things we need to do to make the best of the next 20 turns:

Factories

Concentrate on building Factories in our more productive cities. If we build as many as we can now, we can continue to enjoy Golden Age type numbers from here on. Plus, the more we build now, the less we will have to struggle to build them later with regular production.

Size 12 Plan NOW

Using the Size 12 Plan, we have many growth opportunities that we can exploit to maximize our Golden Age. Selected cities would be nearest to Bavaria and Kyoto to ensure the least amount of corruption. We can do this by having our workers join non-corrupt cities.

For instance.....
Valhalla( Size 7---->Size 12)
5 sea squares = 15 extra commerce

Morgana( Size 7---->Size 12)
5 sea squares = 15 extra commerce

We currently have 30 Fanatikan workers and 60 foreign ones.

Worker production

I believe that we can offset the immediate use of Size 12 workers by having "worker farms" in our more corrupt regions. Some of these cities will hardly enjoy the benefit of the increased commerce and production brought on by our Golden Age, so city size really won't mean much.

This way, we can use those cities to build a workforce that can still build mines and roads where needed, and to help even more cities reach Size 12. There are many opportunities to build roads for increased commerce.

Pikeman/swordsman disband

We have 42 pikemen and 9 swordsmen left in our ranks. Disbanding some of these can be used exclusively to help rush workers in corrupt cities.

To be exact, a disbanded pike or sword will yield 7 shields. A worker costs 10. In cities that produce 1 shield/pt, a worker can be rushed after the disband for 12g.

So a disbanded unit + 12g will help to keep our workforce intact while some workers join our more prosperous cities.

Switch to Electricity at 80-90% science

I would need Science to sign off on this. Here goes.....

It will only take us 8 turns to research Electricity at 90% or 100%science. It will take us 6 turns to research Medicine at 90%; 5 turns at 100%.

Our gpt would still be 87gpt at 100% science; 156gpt at 90%.

I believe that Electricity will be better trade bait in the long run, and will enable us to get Medicine more easily than we would by researching Medicine to acquire Electricity.

So we can get Electricity in 8 turns, while making 156gpt.

Or we can get it in 9 turns, while making 233gpt.

This poll will be in YES/ NO/ ABSTAIN format and will run through the beginning of tomorrow's turnchat.

Please vote so that I can make proper arrangements with the governors. If you have any concerns regarding this plan, please post them here.

Thank you.

Under this plan, we should have the following after 20 turns:

15-20 cities at Size 12
12-15 factories
Fully modernized troops
Wall Street
More cultural pressure on Iroquois cities
An increased workforce- above and beyond workers absorbed in cities.
Theory of Evolution complete(or darn near finished)

With the proper care by the DP, all of these goals are attainable. :)

I like the goals that you have set here. Below is the same post I made in your discussion thread. I thought I would re-post here, and it is followed by a return to the other items in your proposal:

Donovan - Actually, Valhalla isn't such a good example, as it only really has two more squares to use and those are sea tiles (both used at size 9). The three coastline tile by Naerva will by used by Naerva and the two grasslands SW of Valhalla will be used by Kuhkaff once they are mined. Valhalla could use the se grasslands until Kuhkaff was large enough to use them, or I suppose this could work if we turned the three extra workers into taxmen, but are the extra 3gpt worth the workers?

Naerva will grow to as size twelve and be able to use all its tiles. Its shield count will reach21 with no other improvements done. Valhalla, unless it gets an Offshore Platform will not gain in shield strength. If it does get an OSP, then it will only match Naerva at 21spt in total shields. Of course if Naerva got the same OSP, then it would go up to 24. These are total figures, before we add in Factories (both will build one now), Nuclear Power Plants, whatever. So I guess what I'm saying is Naerva would work better in your program than Valhalla, although Valhalla is still a strong candidate.
________________________________________________

As far as the tech proposal (Electricity), I not real sure as I don't have a lot of time to put into that. But I have nothing against disbanding our old military, as long as we don't look weak to others. I suggested the Southern cities build Settlers earlier in the game, but now that is not needed. Therefore I like your plan for them to supply Workers.

As far as Factories go, I have 4 cities building them now and a fifth one will start in 4 turns. As all of these Factories will be within spitting distance of one another, pollution will be a constant problem. I would like to get say...3 workers assigned to cover the pollution as if the problem is not corrected immediately, it will quickly take away the growth and production of the Province.

I have voted for the proposal.

Thank you, Cyc

Keep in mind, this plan was meant for short-term benefit. However, you are correct....Valhalla can only use 3(my count at last save) sea tiles; 4 if you are kind enough to use the sea square 2 spots NE for Naerva to free one up for Valhalla.

You see, Naerva doesn't even have an aqueduct yet, and I wouldn't recommend using our Golden Age to build one now. I can send a worker there to get it to Size 6 and would recommend using the unroaded forest to maximize Naerva's production. I would then request that Naerva either exclusively build Riflemen(we need some cities for this to offset the Pike disbands). If you prefer, you can build a Factory there.

I am assuming your other two factory locations would be Androbius and Gunningheim(the first two being Valhalla and Naerva; Kuhkaff in 4?). If possible, I would like to hold off on those two and use them for rifle production.

My reasoning for this is two-fold:

1. 10-15 shield/pt cities would be prefered for Rifleman replenishment. Your two cities are prime candidates for this objective.

2. Just like you, I am a bit worried about two many Factories too fast. I think we should hold off on these two cities until we have an adequate rail network to instantly reach these cities. Otherwise, like you said, pollution could pose a huge problem.

Let me know what you think.

Yup, I saw yer point on the long term versus GA and have posted in the GA thread. I'm going to need those Factories though. I posted build queues if you have time enough to look at them.

Seeing as Gunning is yet to say anything on this, I am stepping in and excersing my power as Deputy. I am fine with Electricity in 8 at 156gpt extra. If gunning dosent do anything, I WILL sign off on this.
This has been my ego.
Ta!

With our GA, I'd really like to see the techs move along pretty quickly. We can make up for lost gpt in trusty Greek MPPs.

At 90% or 100% science, we would still discover Electricity in 8 turns. That's why I think we should take the 156gpt.

Keep in mind, we are enjoying the benefits of that trusty Greek MPP right now. I too hope we will be able to sign on for another 20 turns, but in the meantime would like to make sure we can still build up our treasury.

Everybody, please vote! This poll still needs 3 votes to make quorum!
