Hey everyone! I'm a newbie with a big problem. I've been trying to add some of these great units to PTW using the tutorials I found on this forum, but I must be doing everything wrong. They don't seem to work right. Could someone please, if possible, send me a file that a 3rd grader could understand on how to do this? If anyone has a tutorial stating where everything should be saved, what steps must be taken, etc. Everything. Like I said, I have no idea what I'm doing wrong!!! I need this stuff spelled out. the reason i posted the link to Kingpin,s tutorial was, i could not find a tutorial located on CFC for those that don,t know how to add units to PTW. if you could please provide me with a link, so everyone knows where to go and look. also.... i have read the forum rules many times but i still don,t understand why my post was edited. the rules state:

i,m just curious as to how i would benefit from posting the link i did, i didn,t even write the text. someone ask for help, i couldn,t provide a link at CFC, so i provided the only one that i knew of. and it was thought to be helpful.
 
I'm also standing by stainz. For some reason, it seems, he's being singled out. Many links to apolyton and cdg within these forums, but only stainz's are deleated.
:confused: help us understand. please post, as stainz has, the reference in the rules that you acting on.

:edit: also he's correct with not having a good link within cfc :(
I looked for a long time trying to find a good place within cfc to lead people who need hep with this, there is none :( Relevant info is scattered around in differnt post in and out of threads.
The cdg tutorial is the best of any site.
We all have the same goal, each site should be an extention of the other.
 
I think my stance on this 'feud' between CDG and CFC is well-known, but I have to side with Stainz on this one. That tutorial at CDG is much better than anything here.
 
I tend to agree with stainz as well.
 
Well, in case anyone who is interested in a tutorial, like 96th PA, but missed the chance, can anyone copy and paste something w/o violating any rules?
 
LOL the moderator action though was Chieftess, not stainz.

Typo there, had the wrong moderator.

Chieftess edited Stainz's original post, because she thought it was against the forum rules.

would both of you please hold your tounges. this is actually something that is quite serious and is no place for bullsh*t posts.

i thank all for the support but this was unjust and should be rectified asap.
 
I agree with you Stainz, I was just trying to help Syrus_Knife understand that you're not a moderator here. Unless he meant it as a joke.

Nearly all of my posts are meant to be serious in nature.

Anyways, I'll state my opinion again: I don't believe what Stainz posted was against the forum rules, as quoted above in this thread.

Well, I only hang out in the C&C section and only came here recently, so this wole "feud" thing is way over my head. Anyhow, shady, remember that links in signatures do not suffer the same restricitons that postings do, so if you look at stainz' post, even after moderation, it shouldn't be particularly difficult to find the tutorial. Edit: and it's even easier now ;)

Stainz, I agree with the other posters in that I don't see how linking to a tutorial on another site is an "advertisement" of that site and would like to see a clarification. As to a unit addition tutorial here, that would be at the top of the Unit Creation Forum, specificly http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31576 which the original poster specificly said he found hard to understand. As a disclaimer, I have read neither one of these tutorials as I figured out my own process of adding units long ago.
 
i just read Kryten's tutorial for adding units to civ but i still can,t seem to find one for ptw.

but 96th PA ahd requested something that isn,t available on CFC
so i linked him to the best tutorial that is out there.

no offence to Kryten, i have used his tutorial for adding units to civ as well, but it isn,t the greatest one that there is if you want to add units to ptw.

And you are quite right.....that old tutorial that I wrote some time ago was pre PTW, and does need a lot of updating.

However, links to other sites has raised a very fundamental question....
....which I cannot answer in this thread as it is a Site Feedback topic.

While I understand the need to keep the rule of law in the forums, I also see the need to help people find what they are looking for.

Fine, remove the link in stainz' post. But at least help out the poor guys who are trying to figure out how to add units by providing them the link to CFC's tutorial... wherever it may be.

To do otherwise is like giving candy to a child and then taking it away!
 
thanx for the link Kryten, i will follow that one as well, but this thread is where it started and this thread is where it will end.

anyway..... from my understanding, in a MSN chat, where Chieftess, TF, and a few of the CDG staff, including myself, were having a conversation about this exact thing, it was ok to post links between the two sites. now this has all of a sudden changed?

i,m not too sure what the reason is, but i would really like to know. and it seems that others would like to know this as well. so far, none of the responsible have made a reply defending (be it by PM, email or in open forums) their actions nor have they been able to provide me with a link, as i've requested. firstly, in a PM to Cheiftess, the moderator that edited my post and then again in the open forums, even though it may not be the proper place to do so, (that is something i can live with (: .)
