This will probably get moved to off-topic. I'm 22 though.

No, the question was: what age groups live in the CIV III realm? so it should not be in OT

Does it matter how old you are? As long as the game is fun, who cares? :D

I'm 47

There is no age limit.

But your wife is right to be worried; Civ
is a dangerously competitive addiction.

Totally agreed!

There could be a lower limit, but certainly not an upper limit.

I am 31 right now and play Civ since 10 years. One reason for civ players being older than average computer gamers: You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave...

Sure it matters. When I first started playing Civ 1, I didn't have to get up to go to the bathroom nearly as often. :)

I know what you mean. At age 54, I no longer have the 6 hour bladder I had ten years ago.

There's several reasons I play Civ and a few other strategy games. One of the most important is that my reflexes aren't up to the "kill 'em all" games or even Mario Brothers. However, the most important reason is that I like Civ. I have a couple of versions of Civ II, as well as CTP (which my daughter likes), SMAC and Alien Crossfire, Civ III and PTW.

Ah, there's no such thing as "too old to play" as long as you're too young to die (credit to Jethro Tull for the song I paraphrased above).

46 and still going strong. I'll be a game paying old man until I'm a dead old man. :o

I have noticed that in several of games that I play the "hardcore" crowd that play the game for months are usually older people. The younger players tend to play a game for a week or two and then move on to newer stuff. I even know of racing team NKA (No KIds Allowed) that only has members that are mature (at least in action if not age) and have been playing the game for more than a few weeks. So I think it is very common for long term players/supporters of games to be older than the average gamer.

PS My age is 37, and I am a proud member of team NKA

I have to agree with the majority here I’m 22 and I don’t think it matters as long as your having fun. One of the things I like about this game is that you can stop and comeback to finish your game whenever you want, and also take your time with it Makes it easy to play with a busy class schedule, work, and a wife.

At 81 I'm probably the oldest Civ fanatic...bought the first version of Civ as soon as it was released and been updating and playing now and then ever since. I agree that we elders probably have more staying power...my son and grandson have already pretty much burned out on Civ3 and aren't going to buy PTW. Had my prostate fixed so i wouldn't have to leave the game so often...nah, not really.
