NEW VERSION!

That's right, all that programming i did was for naught. Here's a modded NIB file for the editor.

Control click on the Civ3Edit Icon, select Show Package Contents.
Navigate to Resources.

Copy these 2 files there. One is a modified splash screen, the other the additional buttons.

Download
Note: I'm serving this on my home machine. I'm having problems uploading to the forum's servers. I can't guarantee that it will work, I've been having weird network problems today.

Thanks to Brad for the hint!

I'm going to continue to update iCivEdit, but for now, you can add techs etc!

The editor doesn't make a copy of a item though, so be sure to get all the data entered, or you might screw up your Civ3.

Bug! AHHH!

The delete button is messed up. Whenever you press it, no matter what screen you're on, it will only delete stuff from the Citizens screen. That is, a dialogue pops up asking if you want to delete laborer, etc. Once it runs out of citizens, and you hit delete again, it crashes.

It seems like our dream of literally adding stuff and modifying the game is coming true. Congrats to Brad and the rest of you!

ok, forgive the noob - I get three files of the *.nib format. i open the package and put ALL THREE in the enligsh.lproj folder?

Hmm... are you in 10.1 or 10.2, I think the nib file formats are different.. make sure you decompress it in 10 with Stuffit. right click on the C3EditRules.nib and select "show package contents" and then move the other two into that folder. then put it where it belongs (back up the other first) and try it.

ok, here's my story:

os 10.2.4

when I decompress the file I get:

folder : C3EditRules.nib
items inside: objects.nib, info.nib, classes.nib

do I just drop the whole thing inside the folder withing the package?

thanks again.

PS - I'm a warlord now!! WOOHOO!!!

Oh hmm... you must not have the developer tools installed. Try placing it where I said to (inside the Civ3Edit package, Resources, English.lproj) but back up that C3EditRules first. If it still doesn't work, let me know.

ok so where exactly are these add/delete buttons supposed to show up? I put the stuff in the folder thus:

civ3edit1.jpg

does this look right to you?

They're in the editor once you activate "edit rules," then select units. Open the editor, then select "edit rules." After doing this, go to "units." The Add/Delete buttons ahould be there. It may say "customize rules." Now, these buttons are not in Brad's latest build, because Senecasax uncovered them for us in the first release, per a hint from Brad.

ooooohhh, so I can't get to them in the new build? that must be the issue then.

<slaps forehead in disgust>

edit: yep, that's the issue, they show up fine in the first version of the editor :)

<leaves to change the laws of physics... at least within civ>

I guess we need senecasax to work his mojo again.

ok another question for you all, I'm now knee deep (well, at least ankle deep) in making a new techtree and here's my issue :

anyone know how to remake the arrows that point to the tech path? I figured out how to move and add and change prereqs and all that, but my arrows are now all fubared. any ideas? thanks again again.
