This is an assessment of the nations that we might attack.

Russia:

Technology

Lacks: Communism, Eletricity, The Corporation
Techs until Infantry: 2
Techs until Tanks: 11

Strategic Resources - Iron
They have no rubber!

Babylon

Technology (via peace renegotiation exception):
Lacks: Scientific Method, Replacable Parts
Techs until Infantry: 1
Techs until Tanks: 9

Strategic Resources: Rubber (2) - Near Babylon and Eridu!
Horses - By Eridu!
Coal - not connected
Saltpeter - not connected

Iroquois

Lacks: Scientific Method, Replacable Parts
Techs until Infantry: 1
Techs until Tanks: 9

Strategic Resouces:

Rubber - 2. Mauch Chunk (connected!) and Centralia
Saltpeter - 1 (connected)
Horses - 2 (connected)
Coal - 1 (connected - they're building rails)

China

Lacks: Scientific Method, Replacable Parts
Techs until Infantry: 1
Techs until Tanks: 9

Strategic Resources (resources in China are pletiful)
All resources (including rubber) are connected.

Take note of the Iroquois! This is WHY we must attack ASAP on Turn 6. We NEED that rail system to get our cav AND artillery to the cities at with no delay!

We need to quickly declare a state of peace with the Babs and declare war against the Iroq ASAP on Turn 6. We need to take there cities before they get there Infantrymen out of Boot Camp.

Personally, I'd like to take advantage of the new war between Persia and America to attack Washington. Lincoln will likely send the majority of his offensive troops across France or England to attack Persia. While they're gone, we should sneak up from behind...

:cringe: I think this is our problem, we're thinking too opportunistically, and not realistically. The Iroquois have atleast 3 cities immediately around our capital, and they can get infantry soon. If we go for America, we don't need our maginot line, and other nations will be waltzing through our lands again.

I say we keep going West. Who knows, if we keep going West, and send a messenger, the Valar might just take pity on us and send an ustoppable army to crush all our enemies... *Has flashback to War of Wrath*

Seriously though, while East would be easily conquered, it would create more problems than it's worth. At least to the West, everybody ALREADY hates us. Besides, our troops are already over there.

And, currently, I think that the main problem/obstacle for our expansion in the West is China. Apart from the Iroquois Confederation, the chinese are the strongest yet to hold in the west. After that, I think that France/Greece will be our nex "big" bunch...

Babylon is crippled. let them in peace for 20 turns as we cripple the Iroquois. Then, with some luck, the Bab will redo what they already done to us: break the peace treat. Then we will have all opportunity to destroy them utterly.

After that, Russia should be destroyed in 3 turns with the advent of tanks. (That's how close and thinned out their cities are).

China definately is huge, and could be a bloody battle for their lands. England is recovering, but could still fall quickly, and America is getting behind in the tech race. Also, in this game, we WILL have to get the UN, and watch out for spaceship victories. We'll need to be careful of nukes. Mark my words. :)

I can see the nuclear holocaust already... :nuke:

I still think, though, that at SOME point we should go after America, perhaps after the Iroquois and Russians. Have you taken a look at their lands? Extremely fertile, and (if we're delicate), well developed. The Chinese should wait for two reasons: 1) They are relatively far from both Bavaria and Kyoto, and 2) the majority of the territory they control is useless jungle.

I support the attack on America, after we take the Iroquois.

Could we not just set up some def along our chinese border? I don't see how their land would help us much. How far have they come in techs?

Yes, I agree with Octavian, we must at some point take down Washington, but they can wait. There are other, more powerfull nations that need conquering first. The east can wait, let us concentrate on the west.

Please check here for a discussion on how we can execute a western offensive.

Iroquios First, then the Rest. Game over, start Demogame III.

Sorry, I haven't been too active here lately.....I hope I'm not too late.

Why are we going after the Iroquois when we have Babylon on the run? The Babylonians are still a cultural threat and we risk losing the cities we worked so hard to gain if we let up now. We should try to make the best of the next 6 turns and try to take at least 4 more cities from babylon, including the capital.

I am thinking Ur, Babylon, Ellipi and Akkad. That should hopefully tip the cultural scales in our favor. I wouldn't consider taking on the Iroquois until these objectives are met.

Also, keep in mind that the Iroquois cities we are most interested in(Suo, Nagoya etc.) have no access to Rubber, and therefore Infantry. Once we declare war we will cut off any access to that resource for those those cities, making them just as easy to take.
