Wonder Graphics:The Great Purge

This one is ment for Ozymandias' scenario about Russia in 30's. I don't know what charasteristics to give it precisely, since it should take away veteran status of your armies, drop your cities population by one per each etc.

Perhaps to give work camps to every city on the continent. Some negative effect it should have though, but choices in civ3 are few: unhappy faces or high maintenance cost. Needs communist govt and requires armies etc.

My 1071 CE mod should be done in a few weeks and your fine work will be incorporated there first; hopefully I'll be able to churn out the 1930s mod ~a month thereafter (I'm a novelist, taking a break between projects, hence the available time) as I'm furiously making notes.

My view of the Purge will be "positive" -- I cannot imagine Stalin not conducting his purges, even though it meant executing some 30,000 experienced officers. My initial thinking is that the Soviets will not be able to build barracks (although they will begin with some decent troops) and that the Purge will allow barracks in every city, representing the development of the armies the Japanese and Finns faced in 1939 and the Nazis in '41.

I'm also considering a Five Year Plan -- five advances, some positive, some negative, ending up with net increased productivity. (A "Communism II" government production system, if you will.)

In the West, we tend to think of Communism as monolithic, and lose sight of how much changed between Lenin and Stalin. Ideally, the scenario would give the player the choice to keep Trotsky and choose between two entirely different Red Armies etc., but I'm not quite certain how to go about this yet.

The mod sounds more and more interesting but I know they take time. I did few large ones for Civ2 and took me months.

Communism has developed many variations, it's like a global pizza where you have the dough and basic ingredients and every one who wants a piece can put in his favorite ingredients

Any chance you could make a variation of this based on the movie "The Boondock Saints" (= change the Soviet soldier into two men in long, dark leather jackets. Perhaps even with The Duke (the same but with short, white beard and a cigar - and armed with a shotgun instead of a regular gun) between them).

It could be great to have for one of my next mods!

It would be so cool to have The Boondock Saints as a wonder (it could spawn Christian Fundamentalist units). The movie is about two (and later three) Catholic fundamentalists in Boston, who starts killing mafia henchmen and bosses. And when they catch a boss they force him to sit just like on your wonder and then they stand behind him and say:
"And Shepherds we shall be
for thee, my Lord, for thee.
Power hath decended forth from thy hand
that our feet may swiftly carry out thy command.
So we shall flow a river forth to thee
and teeming with soulds shall it ever be.

And then they shoot him.
It's one of the best action movies ever (I only think Equlibirum and Matrix I is cooler).
