I want to begin working on such a difficult project.
I have many ideas about how to convert a civ3 game to an RTS.
I have thought at the map, at the rules, at the techs, at the leaderheads.
So what's the problem?

The problem is that I don't know any way to import animations from AoM.
The only thing that comes in my mind is to make screnshots at the units - MANY screenshots. And this isn't a possible solution (unless becoming crazy).
I'll try to do it with static animations only, unless someone wants to help.
If any of you have Age of Mythology and you are good at making units, I really need your collaboration

That is what I did for my RA2 conversions. There is however hope. There is a tool I use that will automaticcaly take screenshots at intervals you decide. I told it to take screenshots every 30ms until there were 300 screenshots. Then loaded them all, found the best ones, and pasted them together. There are downsides to this tool which is the reason I quit converting:

1. 300 screenshots at 1.5MB per shot takes a mighty toll on your HD, and if done enough, can even shorten your HD life
2. Once you get the 10-15 frames it takes for one angle of animation (unit that is) and add the other 7, you now have 100-120 frames. That isnt the hard part, but you have to manually remove the background and make it pink for each frame. :crazyeye: :crazyeye:

I havent played AoM yet so I am not sure how hard it would be to convert units this way, but if anyone wants that screenshot util to convert units for this or other games, just give me a hollar.

Sounds interesting!
I'll try it when ready.
I'm not good with graphics so I'm not much of help

whats the point on taking pics in 30ms? You only need 24ms...

I making some static leaderheads, I included all the main AoM gods, but did not use the actual image of the AoM pictures, I could however, If you want me to. I basically took the ones I made from paintings on the subject.

Well, the thing I really need is finding a way for making units.
Leaderheads aren't a problem for me. I'm trying to do the Chimera with screenshots: I'll check the time I needed for 1 unit, then decide what to do.

Not that I can help you but you got my support !

AoM heaven forums? I don't think you will get much support there, if you are 'copying' the units... Then again, its not the same as converting them. Have you thought about cities?

Sa~Craig, it has some historical points to it, if that is what you are after, it doesn’t stick to the myths completely though, yet it's gameplay is simply superb:thumbsup:.

Well, the cities I have in mind are the village center.
The colonies should be built over resources (gold, wood, food): I'm not sure that AI will do that (but I think so: after all, settlers can't be built, so it's the only way to build units)

Thats a good idea! If you need any help with the cities just ask, I have made a few before. How would you represent an Ox Cart though ?I like the colony idea, it is a shame we can't make them civ specific, I was thinking about barracks and etc. is there a way to make it necessary for the civs to have a building in a city before they are allowed to make a unit?

The colonies WILL be civ specific :)
I have in mind to alter the tech tree so that each civ will be assigned to an era. And colonies change with eras...

Very Nice:thumbsup: I like the relic also. Did you make so the 'mines' are storehouses, ingenious:).
