I feel like I'm really into the spirit of the GOTM: I don't care about what scoring system we use, I'm just having a good time.
I got off to a bad start, always just a step behind in getting to the Wonders. I think my first mistake was exploring too many huts. Warrior Code is about as useful as basket weaving when you are trying to rush to Monarchy.
I did manage to get the science wonders, Copernicus, Newton and SETI. Some timely trading allowed me to build Leo. Then I went after Darwin to gain some tempo in the science race. That let me get to espionage - probably the best thing I did in the entire game. The only other wonder I built myself was Hoover. That's not much of a list but I'm still in the game.
One of my careless spies got caught in the act, bringing down my Democracy, but by then I had stolen Fundy so I made the switch and have been there since.
The Sioux got carried away and started building a spaceship but I had the counter for that. Imagine their surprise when, in 1976, they launched. They had about 24 cities and 17,000 gold so they were looking pretty strong. But I had 20 Howies, a few spies, etc. sitting in one of their forts. By 1979, no more Sioux. (I do have Spanish and Babylonians to deal with now as the Sioux had two civil wars on the way down.)
It looks like the Russians will launch next. Time to relocate the Howies. <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/rocketq3.gif" border=0>
So as I was saying, this is fun. Deity, once you get behind, doesn't have many dull moments. My score won't amount to much, but I can't wait to get back to the game and figure out how to snatch victory....
