Here is the latest version of my units_32.pcx file, with hundreds of icons - should cover all the units on CivFanatics, including the latest ones. I will continue to update this file as and when new units come out, probably on a monthly or fortnightly basis.

I decided to start a new thread because this sheet is quite a departure from previous versions. For a start, it is now only 14 tiles across: maybe that will make it more compatible with previous patches. I've also taken out all the duplicate icons.

Put the file in either
...Civilization III\Art\Units
or
...Civilization III\CIV3PTW\Art\Units
or
...Civilization III\CIV3PTW\Scenarios\YourScenarioName\Art\Units

I recommend backing up your original units_32 icon sheet first.

There isn't a unit icon list for this version, mainly because I can't be arsed doing it, but I suppose I'll get 'round to it eventually.

Thanks to ripptide for the blank sheet.

Any queries, requests or problems - post here. In addition, check out these 2 threads to see if anyone else has had the problem before and how it was resolved:

N.B it probably doesn't have 1000 icons now, but it will ;)

One question though, have you changed unit numbers from last version? I mean, have you just added the new units in between?

Oh, and great work... Much needed and greatly apreciated!

No text list? :(

By the way great I've been waiting for this :goodjob: .

Risbinroch, the numbers for the icons have totally changed.

That sucks:( because now I have to change all my numbers in my mod and Without the text list it is going to be impossible.

So I guess I will stick with the other units 32 sheet. for right now anyway.

Cool, thanks Zulu. This file is *huge* I doubt you'll ever run out of room on this one. I haven't looked thoroughly yet, but it looks like you left out Kinboat's walls in version 2.0 (they are 1008-1022 on version 1.8)

pdescobar, you're correct - I did, I'll put it in 2.1 (incidentally, what does your username mean?)

As far as the unit icon list goes, I am working on it. However, to give you an idea of how long it takes, it just took me over an hour to get to icon 0230 (I think the last unit is on spot 1489 or something).

@Colonel Kraken: Thank you. Finally, someone who wasn't an ungrateful sod ;)

My Username is an all lowercase, jammed-together version of the name "P. D. Escobar" which is what I have called myself online for quite some time now.

Since you are working on an icon list, here is some which I think are correct and you hopefully haven't gotten to yet; I was doing this to kill time during the huge between-turn breaks on my current DyP test game. The number in parentheses is the spot in version 1.8 which is where I took the names from.

sorry, should have been more specific. so far, i havent been able to find:

prussian fusilier (or is it the red guy to the right of zulu war rifleman?)
european spearman (the non-germanic one)
BMP mech inf (found it but think should be placed in mech inf category)
rocket artillery
Humvee
Ariete MBT

At first I had a bigger list but I looked really hard and found them. The icon list is of course essential and personally, if you have a mod with lots of units, don't update it until the icon list is done because it's a pain in the ....

Zulu, we're grateful for the trouble you go through, and I could have worded my criticism a bit better. All the icons except a few seem to be there.

Nice to see you updating your unit_32 file it's propably the most needed file here

Also, i havent been able to find a F-22 icon among the planes or anywhere else excluding the existence of the civ 2 stealth fighter icon.

Ok, I'm building a PTW scenario (w/latest patch), and have downloaded the file into the Units menu. I also see the unit pictures now in the Unit editor, so here are my questions: If I create a new unit using one of the icons, will it show up ONLY on the map, and not in the city screen? Also, are these units animated w/sound? What do I have to do to get some sort of combat sound in there when I use it? If it's an aircraft of some kind (say, the B52), will it actually animate the bombing run or do I need to use different unit files other than this 32.pcx thing? Tks for the help.

my hat off, that has to take a lot of effort!

p.s. the spell icon seems to be missing

I was under the impression the spells weren't units in their own right but simply animations to use with a wizard-unit

These are not units, it is simple an icon sheet that contains no animations. Basically, every new unit you add requires you add an icon to the units_32.pcx file so that a picture for the units shows up correctly at the bottom of the city view and on the left hand side in the build queue.
