Hi all!
I was playing just a normal full-random game with Persia but this time trying to beat monarch! I'm doing great in the game. My best attempt. I lead in Tech race by about 3 tech others but when I builded ToE in Gordium I got Atomic Theory and Electronics, and I was looking for a river in my territory to build Hoover Dam, nope there is no river there, then i started looking all over the map for a single river, but there is no rivers! Has this happened to anyone else here? Here is the save file if you want to take a look. That map is not made in Civ3XEdit, it's just a random map.Savefile

It's very likey to happen on archipelago maps and it sucks, especially since you will be missing out on the river commerce bonus.

You think missing the river commerce bonus is going to suck? I'd be cringing at the thought of having to put Aqueducts in ALL my cities!!!

LOL! That would indeed stink. The thought of nuking a singularly unique geographic formation found nowhere else on the discussed world would be an atrocity, the geologists would declare war! And think of it, with rivers nowhere else, no one living away from the coast would be able to understand the sight and smell of radioactive fish guts raining down from the sky!

Interesting coincidence. I recently finished a Monarch game as Persia on archipelago (random) with no rivers. The first thing I said when I got a world map was "Ugh. No Hoovers."

You can win anyway, Ville.

I WON IT, I WON IT, I WON IT, that was my first Monarch win.
It's party time:band: [dance] [dance] [dance] :band:
Woohooo!!!! And I thought I would never make it!. Final score was 3161 and I won by Space race, it was like 9(1)/10 which Ottomans had and I had only SS Party Lounge left in one turn, thanks to prebuild palace in Gordium. I'm so happy:lol:

4 hours?!?!?! how is that possible? did you start playing from the modern era? because if you started playing from the very beginning then it would be impossible to win a space race in only 4 hours, if you start from the beginning it takes 20 hours aproximately to be half way in the industrial ages, not even modern age.....

not true. depends on the level and the size of the map.

Great work, Ville!

Thanks!
Small map, full AIs, Monarch, No micro-management at all (i hate it:p) so 4h is possible easily

LOL! Micromanagement may make defeating higher levels easier but it also makes for much longer games! Automation isn't slackness, it's time efficiency!

Well I will try micro-management in my next try in Monarch, IIRC I lost my previous game with micro-management in Regent with an average starting location:eek:

i never micro manage, let the workers work if they stop disband em let teh governer build as he wishes (as long as it helps) and declare war!

gj tho

JoseM, I agree with your amazement at the four hours. I always micromanage (control freak!, uh "perfectionist" :D ), and my large, continent games take 20-30 hours +.
