Do you think that this is an insult to USA? Or Americans deserved this?

Though booing and whistling during the national anthems
is a cheap and sad thing - no excuse for these idiots here - it's quite a common thing at football matches.

I am quite sure this has got nothing to do with USA in particular.
Woud have happened to any other team.

Bye,
Chris

Very disrespectful, but I'm the type who believes in respecting another countries flag, anthem etc..etc.. I wouldn't do it to any other country, not even France ;)

where is the option "Football fans are notoriously nationalist, drunk, violent and stupid"?
BTW, this reminds me a lot of the last "anthem-booing" scandal in France - when the french anthem was booed in the Stade de France during France-Algeria a year or two ago.

/me hate hard-core football "fans"

I'm in the camp that firmly believes that rabid fans of any sport are complete and total idiots.

I think that belief in one's country is a noble thing, no matter what country it is, and insulting that by disrespecting a national anthem or flag is very low-budget and mean-spirited. Making fun of hygiene or beer is one thing, but to me there's just something a little sacred about symbols of longstanding national pride.

I also think that booing an anthem is disrespectful, but I think that the American moral entity has well deserved this. Such foreign policies such as "liberty fries" doesn't make you any friends.

Pls refrain fr this nationality-bashing here now.

I'm weighing closing down this thread, which is just going to attract all sorts of unwholesome comments, but I'll leave it on for now...

Thanks - XIII

I think the whole childish rivalry between these nations is fostered and perpetuated by mostly ill-educated, bored goons.

The war is over, America had it's fun. Now, can't we move on?

I wish people could get on with life and forget this no-brainer nonsense.
In the grand scheme of things, it matters little.

One good turn deserves another, right Fier Canadien? No use in anyone ever acting like an adult.

Noble sentiments.
It should go both ways, of course.

Shouting "cheese-eating surrender monkeys" hardly pays respect to those French people liquidated by the nazis in WW2, non?

Was it their fault?
Would an American be proud to call Anne Frank a "cowardly dutch surrender monkey"?

I wonder....

I only refer to the French leaders responsible for the surrender as "cheese-eating surrender monkeys"! :D

Of course, I'm sure the French people themselves have some much nastier names for them...

You mean it's similar to some of the names people call Bush? :p

So many castrato booing at once; must have made choirmasters worldwide green with envy.

Of course it's disrespectful, childish, and yadda yadda.

This has been happening for ages. It's childish of course but I doubt there is a deeper meaning to it. Most soccer fans aren't that much into politics... :crazyeye:

The contruction of the poll, particularly thinking about the obvious choice left out, indicate trollish intent and its a bad idea even without such intent.
