Unit Request - Transport Aircraft

The An-225 would be awesome!!! Even though it is meant as the carrier of the Russian space shuttle, it would make an awesome transport of weaponry and troops! It has six huge engines, and is the largest plane in the world!!
The Globemaster is puny compared to the Mriya!

I think exactly the same!:) Globemaster is cool, but speaking honestly, I had some more "big bad and ugly" in my mind:)

The Globemaster is not such a bad choice, however. :) It is the only really large plane that can operate from small airfields. And that can kind of explain how it can airdrop heavy units (if you don't allow it to airdrop stuff, the AI won't build it). I just miss a shadow on the current globemaster (and perhaps clearer civ specific color)...

How you would you them - as heli-type units with more capacity and range?

Bebro - if it is possible, such use would be great, if not - I"ll use them such as "normal" transport plane, to transport big quantity of units to reinforce newly captured cities. I knew, that Globemaster can operate from small airfields, but more important to me is transportation of many units to a long distance

An-225? Why not, I'll give it a shot next week.

I also have models for C-130, An-124, A-400 (I know, sounds too good to be true, but it is :). I can send those models (max, or convert to 3ds) to anyone interested in doing these units.

Yes, it would probably have to be something like that, although you can make the drop range very short. I guess the important point is that you can make rebase missions after loading a unit, flying it to any city or airbase. I must admit I have never seen the AI do it, but then it does not really show, does it. :) This capability is especially important if you disable airlift for heavy units such as tanks (which is a very reasonable thing to do). More capacity is imho rather questionable - a mechanized division can be quite a handful. ;) Could you perhaps make a new version of the C-17? After all, a freshened up Globemaster III and a huge Ukrainian Antonov can complement each other... :D

I am making all of those except the A400.

I've removed "airlift" ability from 98% of the units and give the air transport units "rebase" ability, not "airdrop." If you want to move some tanks to another continent, you have to move the units to a city or airbase with a transport, load 'em and rebase to a city (with airport) or airbase on that continent. Makes ya think a little more. I just give "airlift" to the special ops type units; makes 'em special :p and makes the game a little more realistic IMHO. :)

Which reminds me I need to start making a DC-3.

This is exactly how I wanted to set up my transport, but unfortunately the 'air transport' AI strategy is not available in the editor unless you give the transports the airdrop ability. :(
