Hey Hey Hey! I decided to start my fifth SG and to make this one a little more interesting. I'm thinking that most of you guys have played once of twice on an Archapelago Map, right? Well this game will only allow Domination Victory! This will allow a bit of a challenge thinking that now we will have to depend on a the little things we tend to forget on a Pangea or Max. Space Continents Map. Here's the settings;

This will be a Editor Generated Map allowing X and Y wrapping.

Emperor
Large
70% Water
Random Climate and Temp.
4 Billion Years
Max. AI
Roaming Barbs

Civ Pick not yet decided but the Vikings are disabled due to the overpowering strength of thier UU. Any Suggestions on Civ Pick are WELCOME.

Roster
Amirsan-
Gingerbread Man-
Meldor-
Open-
Open-

Strict 24/48 "Got It" and "Played"

The next 2-3 players to join will allow me to start the game. Sign Up!

EDIT** This Game Will Be Played on PTW v1.21

Sorry, I'm not going to play, but what about the English?

They are the ideal situation for this kind of map (commercial, Man-O-War) and are probably the rarest played civ in the game.

The Man-O-War is definately not too powerful (when I used them at least) and my enemy had no salpeter (for most of the war) and I was only against pikes.

Having the safety of the sea is nice, maybe you should use the editor to set AI civs to "build ships often", so you can't bombard all day (although I didn't damage units as much as I had hoped)

Ok, If we start before you're back then we'll just skip you and keep your spot on the roster. ;) Ima wait untill later today if someone else joins and I'll start the game. Meldor, you can start today right?? Anyways, first player will play 20 turns and the rest is 15 turns untill 1000BC. From then on it will be 10 turns per player.

I would like to play, but I have to first warn you guys of a couple of things. I have not yet played on emperor, although I just finished another dominating victory on monarch. I am actually currently working on a monarch game with lots of water and small pieces of land, so that might be right up the alley for this game. The second, and perhaps more important thing is that I have not played an SG yet. I have been lurking for a couple of weeks, but have not yet found a game to join.

So, if you will have me, I can play pretty much whenever needed with the exception of July 26 - August 3, as I am taking a trip to a few law schools to figure out where I want to go to school after I graduate. Anyways, I will be waiting for a response. :goodjob:

Oh, if you guys are at all hesitant about letting me in, that's fine. I would understand.

Yaype - amirsan should be ok about that.

As for civs - chances are we wont have early wars. also, islands will be relitavely small, meaning there wont be a need for fast units. Invasions will rarely occur on our home islands. We will need less corruption since cities will be far apart.

Possible civs:
France - commercial + industrious, but bad UU
Carthage - Comm + industrious, but Ancient age UU
Ottos - late middle ages UU = perfect timing.

I would prefer Ottomans, or, for the fun of it, England. England would fit in historically.

Maybe we could make a list of all the commercial or expansionist countries and only permit them. So we would get a random Commerical or expansionist country.

Well, assuming that I actually am part of this, I'll give my two cents on the civ we use.

Based on traits alone, Carthage and France would be very useful for a pelago map. Commercial reduces corruption, while industrious makes it so that fewer workers are needed (which is a good thing, because there will only be a small number per island).

Beyond those two, I would also recommend Korea (bad UU, I know), the Ottomans, or India. Korea and India both are commercial, which will be helpful. And as Gingerbread pointed out, the Ottomans have a very timely UU for this type of game.

I say the Ottomans or Korea.

Oh, and would expansionist actually be helpful on a pelago map? I thought they were more useful for pangea type maps. I could be quite wrong, though. :)

I would not mind going with either France or England. I don't think we need to have traits that perfectly match the map. That is part of the fun of it. The Ottomans and Korea have been done a lot in SGs.

Lets do England. They are a very generic civ, with no real outstanding UUs or traits. It will give us a feel of what this style of game would be like for every civ.

Oh, and can we change the water coverage to maximum/land coverage to minimum? There will be more islands that way.

OK, Yaype, your in :). We could use peeps from different levels playing in one game, it will makeit more fun.

About the civ, I vote for England, I never realy tried thier Man O War and around that time is when wars over seas begin to happen. They have the best timing. So with the votes;

Amirsan- England
Gingerbread Man- England
Meldor- France or England
Yaype- Otts and Korea

Looks like its England then. I cant make the game right now but will be able to later. ;)

Thanks. England is cool with me. I like playing some of the less-played civs--they aren't appreciated enough.

I'm available for your last roster spot. England sounds good for this map. The expansionist trait will keep the barbs out of hut we pop on new islands.
