Previous turn chat thread.

This will be an on-line game play session. :)

We now have 35 cities despite the fact that the treacherous citizens of Teayo and Tula revolted and rejoined the empire of the Aztecs. Esquiline province is almost filled withour cities and we are busy founding cities in the southern peninsula. The Persians have built the city of Istakhr north of Xak Tsaroth in Capitoline province. :( We can still build about half a dozen cities on the Peninsula and we should build a canal there as we did in Esquiline province.

We have lost our technology edge. We are seven turns from learning theology but the Babylonians already have that. Many others civs also have the republic, engineering and feudalism. The Greeks and Persians are building Sun Tzu's Art of War; the Persians are building Leonardo's Workshop and the Babylonians are working on the Sistine CHapel. We have been pre-building the Sistine Chapel in Gorina and estimate it will be completed in 28 turns. By establishing an embassy in Babylon we can determine if we will beat the Babylonians in the race to finish the chapel. Since Astronomy is our mid-range research goal we should consider pre-building Copernicus's Observatory in Memphis.

We can buy gems from Russia for horses, WM and 146g. There isn't much else we can do in the way of trades. We can renegotiate several peace treaties for gold and contact with three new civs (Japan, Germany and England). Egypt needs horses and iron while Greece needs horses.

We still have 14 cities that are ungarrisoned, We do have 31 spearmen, 2 warriors and 24 legions so we seem to have adequate forces for defense. Most are currently on the Line. Perhaps it is time to disband the Line? We also have 27 domestic workers (as well as 5 foreign workers). We are currently allowed 74 units but have 84 so our unit cost is 10gpt. Perhaps it is time to stop making spearmen and workers?

The other civs are either annoyed or furious with us, and will remain so should we renegotiate the peace treaties. The gradual establishment of embassies should help our relations as will our ability to export grapes and dyes once we know astronomy. We also have excess horses and iron to sell as noted above.

We have 1292 culture points. 23 of our cities have no culture. We have 12 temples, 5 libraries, 1 colosseum, as well as our palace and forbidden palace. We currently have six temples and six libraries under construction. We also have eight spearmen being recruited and these should be switched over to libraries or temples. We need to concentrate on culture improvements in nortern Capitoline in order to try to convince the citizens of Istakhr to join our kingdom.

Our histograph score is 680 points. We are 43 points behind the front running Babylonians. Our power graph is large but our culture graph is small. We lead the worls in manufactured goods. We are second in both land area and population. We are third in GNP. We are ninth in literacy.

Mr President.

I will probably not be able to join the turnchat. Please Accept my absence.

Esquiline's buildqueue:

610_Esquiline::s_Buildqueues.JPG

Request: Improve the lands with mines as well as roads and irrigation. The Mayor of Aqualondë (Noldodan) has requsted this for that city, but I think all cities and the whole Nation of Fanatica benefits from that.

I have started to fight corruption by putting in several courthouses in the queues. Especially the cities in the highlands are corrupt.

Request: Rename the cities.

Request: As soon as the last city (site C) has been founded, release the Babylonians. Our troops are more useful elsewhere. The Babs aren't a thread anymore if all land is filled.

Play well !

Please continue researching Theology. Once that is complete, please direct our Sooth Sayers in the direction of Education.

Please try to keep the Sci Rate up at 70%. We really don't need more gold, we do really need research.

Please continue the pre-build of the Sistene Chapel in Gorina. Switch the pre-build to the Great Wonder at your convenience.

Aventine Build Queues:

Aureus: Granary, Spearman, Marketplace
Inadatto: Harbor, Spearman, Marketplace
Regia Doughnutia: Granary, Settler, Library
Lake Asphinxia: Temple, Library, Barracks
Elephantine: Library, Barracks, Marketplace
Memphis: Colosseum, Marketplace, Barracks
New Jedina: Library, Granary, Marketplace
River Crossing: Temple, Marketplace, Barracks
Iron Hills: Harbor, Temple, Barracks

Aventine Improvements: Still the same as the past two chats, although some progress has been made.

1) Finish current tasks.
2) Irrigate the cow SW of New Jedina.
3) Irrigate around Aureus.

Recommendations: Move the Legion that is just sitting outside of the line to someplace useful. Also, move the Spearman SW of Memphis on the hill to its East. And do try to make this chat on time.

Settlers:

Generally, if a rival civ is encroaching our land and a settler is available that can win the race to the desired spot, make that the highest priority. Secondly, if a settler has a choice of multiple target locations use the one identified as priority with the best overall results. All of the sites identified as priority are generally equal.

For a settler produced in the far West, build on site B, map 1. (note, production in image is outdated)

For settlers produced in the East, there are three priorities. The 2 city locations shown in this map. Additionally, it is noted that after the site NW of New Jedina is built, the line can safely be withdrawn to the locations marked with a line, reducing its cost to 10 units. The Greeks will probably leave if a square to their N is left open. The Military dept is urged to approve this action and specify how best to withdraw the line.

The other priority site is site B shown in this map

If additional settlers available, prioritize coastal sites and sites which are under the threat of being built by a rival.

Budget
Science can be raised to 70% with a 5gpt surplus. In general, lower science slider the turn prior to researching something to the lowest value which results in 1 turn, and raise it afterwards to the highest value which runs a surplus.

Not much specifically going on so my instructions are pretty general this time.

build up more Spearmen, those undefeneded cities worry me too much.

Maintain the "Maginot Line" this is a big reason why so many cities are undefended as it is, however it's Very Important and so if it fails keeping our cities undefended has been for nothing.

Build queues
Bootia: Library (17), Settler
Gingerbread City: Continue building the temple until connected by road to the rest of Fanatica, then switch production to Legionary
South Bootia: Spearman (18), Settler
South Gingerbread City: Spearman (20), Temple
Yet Another City: Settler (20)

Worker instructions
Worker near Gingerbread City: Continue building road from Yet Another City, then start road linking Gingerbread City and South Gingerbread City.
Workers near South Bootia: Use roads to link South Bootia, then link Gingerbread City through the hill containing Iron. After that, assist the worker near Gingerbread City in linking South Gingerbread City.
Worker near Bootia: Continue mining
After South Gingerbread city is linked, send all 3 workers (the one that started near Gingerbread City and the two starting near South Bootia) to build a mine at the hill with Iron near Gingerbread City

Laborer Instructions
Gingerbread City's next laborer should be assigned to the Iron near the city.
Bootia's next laborer should be assigned to the grassland tile with shield at the extreme southern tip of the City Radius
Yet Another City's next laborer should be assigned to the roaded grassland SE of the city.

Orders from the Vice President at the Jade House

BTW, there is no such thing as GDT. GMT does not have Daylight savings.

Thanks,
Your Freindly Time Zone Person ;).

Foreign Affairs

Nothing to report. Please, withdraw force if the AI asks.

The people don't want any embassies built, right now. So, I will follow their orders (no one wanted it in a disscussion thread) and say we shouldn't build them this chat.

We have learned theology and are working on education now. The Greeks asked us to ally against America. They were willing to give us engineering and gold. The deal was accepted. The Americans promptly took Buffalo and burned it to the ground. Just before that we bought gems from the Russians for our WM and, horses and 148g. We also made a deal with Egypt to get feudalilsm. In return we paid a little gold and are exporting iron, horses and dyes to them. While we have gained three techs this last round we are still behind the Persians who have both chivalry and invention.

We settled another city or two and have more settlers on the way to other city sites. The peninsula is the area needed the most new cities but we are close to having all our lands settled. Once we do we can consider abandoning the Line and using our Glorious Legions to help garrison our cities.

We continued to build temples, libraries and harbors. We have switched Gorina to the Sisitine Chapel which will be complete in less than 20 turns.
