Previous turn chat thread.

Next game play instruction thread.

This will be an on-line game play session. :)

We have learned theology and are working on education now. The Greeks asked us to ally against America. They were willing to give us engineering and gold. The deal was accepted. The Americans promptly took Buffalo and burned it to the ground. Just before that we bought gems from the Russians for our WM and, horses and 148g. We also made a deal with Egypt to get feudalilsm. In return we paid a little gold and are exporting iron, horses and dyes to them. While we have gained three techs this last round we are still behind the Persians who have both chivalry and invention.

We settled another city or two and have more settlers on the way to other city sites. The peninsula is the area needed the most new cities but we are close to having all our lands settled. Once we do we can consider abandoning the Line and using our Glorious Legions to help garrison our cities.

We continued to build temples, libraries and harbors. We have switched Gorina to the Sisitine Chapel which will be complete in less than 20 turns.

NOTICE: Please reserve this thread for instruction posts by Department Leaders. This is not a discussion thread.

The Ministry of Trade

No deal will be expiring this ten turns around.

I would like to request some worker actions, though. Once Gingerbread City is connected, please connect the dyes south of the town. I also request an effort to connect the other three as-of-yet unconnected towns: Dinas Emyrs, Slice of Bacon, and DePaolo.
Of course, this is all at the DP's discression. This is more a strong suggestion on my behalf. :)

After we complete our research of Education, please direct our Sooth sayers towards Astronomy. It looks like we will be the first nation to finish researching Education, but that is not a definite. Because of this, trading for Astronomy is probably out of the question, and this is good, as we have not decided which Tech to move to after Astronomy.

If the need arises, which I seriously doubt, use the then current results of this poll.

Please try to keep the Sci Rate up at 70%. We need to pull ahead of the other nations in Science. :D

Please build a Cathedral in Memphis before attempting to pre-build or build any Wonder there (Copernicus' Observatory).

Simple instructions, maintain the current walls and keep the two settlers in our territory surrounded.

Also form a "new Wall" near the Aztec border using the Legion and Warrior next to Aztec territory right now, just in case the Aztecs choose to try to expand a little more down there. The Movements for this "Aztec Wall" are in the following image.

And Watch that Persian Galley SE of Nafstac, I have a feeling it's gonna try to claim the coast SE of Penguinadua, so I'd suggest using the nearby settler to makesure that coast is claimed ASAP if there's a planned city placement for that area.

Vice Presidential Orders - Jade House : Worker's Work Orders

Aventine Improvements: Still the same as the past two chats, although some progress has been made.

1) Finish current tasks.
2) Irrigate around Aureus.
3) Improve around Memphis.

Note to all Govenors: You can still post your build queues in here. the purpouse of this post is so that the DP can look at one Post, rather than searching for multiple posts.

Thanks,
CivGeneral

Budget

Maintain sliders in the range +10gpt to -10gpt unless this is impossible, then stay on the + side, DP's discretion on timing and magnitude of changes to adjust for in-game events but keep tech rate going. Governors are asked to be flexible on laborer assignments in this regard. :)

Please remember, at the turn before a tech is discovered, lower the science slider to the lowest level that stays 1 turn, and raise it after the tech is discovered to put it within the bounds specified above.

If trade offers for gold come along, please reserve at least 25% of current treasury as a buffer, DP discretion to reserve more. If the deal is really too good to pass up, that is a on-the-spot decision. This is only a comment on the budget ramifications, Trade Dept should advise on which possible trades are good / bad.

City Build

Please follow the city build thread with the following addition. Thanks go to our military leader for pointing this out.

This location was overlooked in the city placement thread, and it's an outstanding idea. Please go ahead with this one.

Worker Allocations
The balance of # of workers per province / city may be adjusted to account for priority of improvements in cities which will pre-build wonders. Please focus on shields in wonder cities, and commerce elsewhere, within the bounds of instructions from other leaders, and within DP discretion on order of operations.

Aventine Build Queues:

Aureus: Marketplace, Aqueduct, Cathedral
Inadatto: Marketplace, Cathedral
Regia Doughnutia: Library, Courthouse, Marketplace
Lake Asphinxia: Library, Barracks, Courthouse
Elephantine: Library, Barracks, Courthouse
Memphis: Cathedral, Observatory Prebuild
New Jedina: Library, Aqueduct, Cathedral
River Crossing: Temple, Marketplace, Barracks
Iron Hills: Harbor, Temple, Barracks
Omalu: Temple, Courthouse, Library

Aventine Improvements: Still the same as the past two chats, although some progress has been made.

1) Finish current tasks.
2) Irrigate around Aureus.
3) Improve around Memphis.

Recommendations: Move the Legion SW of Memphis on the hill to its East. And get units to Omalu and Inadatto! (And speaking of Inadatto, there was a Spearman built there which seems to have disappeared…)

Still not much here...

If Greece makes peace with the Americans, try to do likewise, w/o having to 'pay' for the treaty. I mean 'pay' as in give America something for the treaty.

I am NOT making this statement official, but please consider giving dyes to the Aztecs. It may improve their mood, but it may not.

Don't break any treaties. Do not sign more alliances against America.

Bootia: Library (5), Temple

Gingerbread City: Library (67)
Special note for GBC - Be sure to move the laborer from the coast square to the square on the hills with iron in the preturn.

South Bootia: Temple (48)

DePaolo: Temple (50)

Yet Another City: Settler (16), Library
Special note for YAC - Move the laborer on the roaded grassland square to a forest square after turn 1 is complete.

When a new city is founded to our south: Temple (60)

Also, I suggest that you link GBC, YAC, and DePaolo to the rest of Fanatica, and then I would recommend you mine the hills square with iron near Gingerbread City.

EDIT: Added YAC build queues and worker suggestions.

A storm came up right after the chat and knocked out my internet connection at home. I won't be able to post the chat log until later tonight. CivGeneral, do you have a log?

We built a few more cities on the Peninsula, but the Persians also built the city of Jinjan there. It would be wise if we built a canal in the Peninsula.

Greece made peace with America before our alliance ended. We made peace the next turn and now we own Houston which is near the Greek capital.

We have learned education and can now build universities. We immediately sold education to the Greeks in an effort to neutralize the Great Library. We got invention and republic in the deal. We then sold education to Persia for 89g and 42gpt. This allowed us to increase our research rate to the 80 - 100% range while maintaining a surplus. We are still behind the Persians in tech as they now have gunpowder. We will have astronomy in 4 turns and this should open us trading possibilites for the export and import of luxuries. We have 2 extra wines and 3 extra dyes to sell. Germany has ivory and silk, England has silk, Babylon has incense, China has furs and Japan has spices for sale.

Gaining astronomy will also allow us to build Copernicus's Observatory. We currently have 158 shields stored up in Memphis. It takes 400 shileds to build Copernicus. We also have the ability to build Sun Tsu and Leonardo. We are 6 turns away from completing the Sistine Chapel. That will cause cascades to other wonders.
