Game save.

Previous turn chat thread.

Next game play instruction thread.

This will be an on-line game play session. :)

We built a few more cities on the Peninsula, but the Persians also built the city of Jinjan there. It would be wise if we built a canal in the Peninsula.

Greece made peace with America before our alliance ended. We made peace the next turn and now we own Houston which is near the Greek capital.

We have learned education and can now build universities. We immediately sold education to the Greeks in an effort to neutralize the Great Library. We got invention and republic in the deal. We then sold education to Persia for 89g and 42gpt. This allowed us to increase our research rate to the 80 - 100% range while maintaining a surplus. We are still behind the Persians in tech as they now have gunpowder. We will have astronomy in 4 turns and this should open us trading possibilites for the export and import of luxuries. We have 2 extra wines and 3 extra dyes to sell. Germany has ivory and silk, England has silk, Babylon has incense, China has furs and Japan has spices for sale.

Gaining astronomy will also allow us to build Copernicus's Observatory. We currently have 158 shields stored up in Memphis. It takes 400 shileds to build Copernicus. We also have the ability to build Sun Tsu and Leonardo. We are 6 turns away from completing the Sistine Chapel. That will cause cascades to other wonders.

We also have a much fuller world map now.

We have 2493 culture points but over half our cities still lack culture!

We are now 66 points ahead of Babylon - but we are 148 points behind the Germans!

NOTICE: Please reserve this thread for instruction posts by Department Leaders. This is not a discussion thread.

The Ministry of Trade

As is always the case with my poor ministry, there's not much.

With the discovery of Astronomy, several overseas trade routes will be opened. Fell free to make any reasonable deals when our new trade routes open.

Previous deals involving tech trades, etc. will expire in five turns. Please look for new civs to sell the luxuries too: I'd rather not sell of the resources unless a great deal presents itself.

I'll not be at the chat, because I will either be sleeping, or attending Mass.

Queues for Capital Province
Post reserved. Governors, please give any instructions you wish to have carried out. Want to be a governor? PM me.

EDIT: The Q:
Noshuret: Cathederal, University
Neapolis: Library, Marketplace
Penguinadua: Aqueduct, Cathederal
Ingolemondor: Temple, Worker, Granary
Nur Gisnod: Library, Worker, Worker, Knight, Knight
Slice of Bacon: Temple
Nafstac: Temple, Worker, Pikeman
Tyvek: Library, Worker, Granary
Gorina: SISTINE CHAPEL, Cathederal, marketplace
Xak Tsaroth: Marketplace, Granary, Worker

EDIT 2: Great news everybody! I can make it to the turn chat, but I will get there late. An hour and a half late. I may miss it, but I may be able to get there!

GBM, I am afraid that you will have to wait just a bit longer to take control of Aventine. The instructions for this turnchat shall be posted soon.

EDIT: Aventine Build Queues:

Aureus: Aqueduct, Cathedral, University
Inadatto: Marketplace, Cathedral, Aqueduct
Regia Doughnutia: Library, Courthouse, Marketplace
Lake Asphinxia: Library, Barracks, Courthouse
Elephantine: Courthouse, Library, Barracks
Memphis: Cathedral, Palace pre-build (also, move the laborer from the unmined hill to the mined one)
New Jedina: Aqueduct, Cathedral, Harbor
River Crossing: Temple, Marketplace, Barracks
Iron Hills: Temple, Barracks, Granary
Omalu: Temple, Courthouse, Library
Chieftess: Temple, Harbor, Granary

Aventine Improvements:

1) Finish current tasks.
2) Road and mind the hill SE of Memphis.
3) Irrigate around Aureus.

Recommendations: Get units to Omalu and River Crossing. Also, move the Spearman NW of Memphis to its East, on the Horse.

With our recent development in the Science Rate, I will now post the current Tech Path. We are currently researching Astronomy and should be done in 4 turns. We will then move on to Banking. After that, we will continue on to Democracy by getting Printing Press first. The Path is listed below.

1. Astronomy
2. Banking
3. Printing Press
4. Democracy

Please keep the SciRate up to at least 70% as we strive to become the world leader in Science. :)

Please initiate the construction of the pre-build of Copernicus' Observatory in Memphis upon the completion of the Cathedral there.

Please refrain from trading Astronomy this t/c.

Sliders
Remember to lower science the turn before getting a tech, and raise it after. Try to stay in the range +10 to -10 gpt unless none of the values fall within this range, in which case go on the + side. It is OK to use minimal lux% if unable to acquire lux from other civs, and if the impact of entertainers is greater than the impact of the %.

Settlers
Fill in any areas which have not yet been settled, priority on coastline first.
Build on the blue and yellow locations from this thread.

For other locations, here are two more maps with good locations.

Edit:

I would also like to draw attention to a proposal for a way to reduce the number of units nneeded for the line carefully, which can be found here.

Shortening the line carefully

Domestic cannot act on this plan, but I urge the military department to consider it and hopefully implement it immediately, before someone comes with galleys full of troops instead of settlers to pick off our undefended cities.

Persia is willing to give the following to stay at peace with us:
3 gpt + 6g (66g total) or
2 gpt + 24g (64g) or
1gpt + 42g (62g)

We should go for the last one. 4 gold isn't going to affect us much, and we really shouldn't wait for Persia to hand a little each turn. So, ask Persia for 1gpt and 42g for the peace treaty.

Do not break any treaties, during these turns.

edit: You can change it to 3gpt +6g, if you want. I wouldn't recommend it.

There is nothing else to report.

sorry I didn't have time to make up a map of this Wall change, but here it is, at least in plain text.

Bring the line in to make a line from the Legion North of New Jedina to Omalu, to Elephantine, to the Legion standing East of the Russian worker outside Gronzy. (so a straight line from the Legion east of the Russian worker to the Legion north of New Jedina.

all Freed Legions/Spears should be redirected to garrison cities.

Leave 3 units (including at least one of the spears in the line) to guard River Crossing.

Remaining units should be used to garrison undefended cities.

Once again I encourage more Spearman Building, and if there's a war bring it to the forums.

CG - I tried logging but messed it up so I don't have a log. If you have one please post it!

The turn 11 link does not work...

I've already sent him two PM's (before he got offline) and an email.

Sorry about the save. I as in a hurry to go play D&D. I'l try to post it tonight - I'm not on the same computer now so I don't have the save here. :(

Does anyone have a chat log they can post?

We built a few more cities, two of them forming the Grand Southern Canal on the Peninsula. We have made great strides this term is filling our land with cities but there are still a few more good city sites left.

We have learned the advances of astronomy and banking. We are currently working on a printing press as we drive towards democracy.

The advent of astronomy opened up several trading possibilities for us. We are now importing English silks, Japanese spices and German ivory. The importation of Russian gems also continues.

We have completed our first wonder, the Sisitine Chapel, in the great city of Gorina. We are currently working on Copernicus's Observatory in Memphis. It is currently 20 turns from completion.

We have shortened The Line in an effort to get all of our cities garrisoned.
