In tribute to my favourite CIV player I have decided to start another SG based on Trading and War.

This SG has three restrictions as follows.

1. Victory condition Space Race
2. No research allowed of any description (Slider at 0 at all times and no scientists - ever)
3. Cultural victories will be turned off.

Level: Monarch
Map: Large Archipeligo, warm, arid, old
CIV: Arabs
Software: PTW 1.21

Roster:

TedJackson (UP)
Hooray
Vbraun
Brewster
Space
mad-bax

The start position

NOTE: The map has been randomly generated. 2 small modifications were made.

1. A land bridge was created to allow land access to one or more rivals.

2. One land bridge was disconnected.
Should be quite difficult, and probably a close finish.

Each player gets 20 turns for the first rotation, then 10 after that.
Each player will play on a 24/72 basis. This means once the save is made available the next player must post a "got it" message within 24 hours, but must not begin to play until that 24 hours is up to allow for discussion. The player then has a couple of days to post the next save.

Space Race with no research and archipaelago. I've got to have a go at this :)

Please sign me up.

Note: I'm away from the 1st of August to the 4th of August inclusive.

regards

Ted

p.s. where do you get these ideas? :)

Have fun! I played a similar game in Epic 25 and had a blast. No libraries or scientists and lots of gold. You can trade and steal your way to the top.

Busting out the :hammer: works well too ;).

I recommend checking those Epic games out.

Ted: I'm in no hurry to start this one as I have to roll a lot of starts and inspect each start to ensure we have an AI CIV on our landmass. Obviously if we don't, all the AI will be up to navigation before we get pottery and that won't be fun.

I get these ideas because I'm a masochist with too much time on my hands. ;)

hotrod: If you ever read this and can find the time to post a link that would be great.

mad-bax,

here's the link to T-hawks (winning) game report for Epic 25

Makes for a good read. I came across this a little while back and wanted to try something similar.

Hooray: Do you want me to add you to the Roster or would you prefer to wait for the start position and other game parameters?

I'd like to see the parameters, but I'll go ahead and say I'll join. It's Monarch-level and a decent civ, so that should be good enough for me.

The game parameters have now been set in stone and the first post edited.

Since I am in no rush to begin the game, I propose we wait for a few days to see if anyone else is brave enough to join in :)

Yes, it is a decent starting position....
Hmm, I know Wines give an extra food, but will we get that bonus in Despotism? I can only remember Wines on hills and plains for some reason...

EDIT: Yeah, Wines will give a food bonus on grassland in Despotism, but only if irrigated! That's good!

PS: Looks like an a lot better starting position then mine :)

You can say that again! :)

Welcome to a poorly funded NASA

This looks like an interesting variant. Since the roster is full, I'll be keeping tabs on you and see how things are progressing.

Good luck. :D

I hope that you have just confused me with JackMerchant in the roster :D

Sorry Ted! It's all too much for my tiny mind :)

I've amended my little faux pas.

Brewster: There is one slot left open. You are welcome to join.

I'd be delighted to join this game.

As I mentioned before, this variant is unlike anything I've seen before. It looks like we will have to use some pointy stick solutions to our research dilema. A few timely wars and subtle espionage should be the order of the day.

1. Victory condition Space Race
2. No research allowed of any description (Slider at 0 at all times and no scientists - ever)
3. Cultural victories will be turned off.

Does that mean we cant get free techs from the great library or goody huts?

I dought it but that can be thought of as reaserch...

@Brewster: Would you like to join my game. One guy quit. So that leaves one spot open: Regent for Warlords
