Just so everyone knows, this Poll is informational.

Just to make another point, getting to Economics first is nowhere close to being as advantageous as researching Democracy before our rivals. AI civs will cough up a hell of a lot in terms of gold, techs, lux & resources in exchange for a sniff at Democracy - and with a bit of luck we might be able to snag Economics that way. Even if not, we should be able to research it fairly quickly with the financial benefits democratic government offers. More vital than acquistion of the necessary tech is the beginning of a pre-build at the correct time if we have our hearts set on constructing Adam Smith's Flying Circus.

I see you left out the Science Department thread in your links for discussion, DaveShack. Maybe that's why you never posted there. You didn't realize that the Science Department had anything to do with the Science Polls.

On a philosophical note, I firmly believe that the only mistake one can make with questions is to not ask them. This does not reflect on Cyc in any way, each of us has his or her own comfort level and I do not fault anyone for confidence that their opinion is right. I do however reserve the right to bring my opinions forward, right or wrong, and see who supports them and who doesn't.

In the end it appears that the democratic answer to this question is "democracy", which is fine with me now that the question has been asked.
