Term 3 - Presidential Thread
 
In order to revitalize this game I believe that the President should post a summary of the events in each T/C in the main page of CFC. This should be told in an exciting way to attract new players and the President should also use this as an opportunity to advertise the game with various links and a plea to participate. :)

The president also needs to appoint someone to make our maps. This needs to be done by someone with plenty of free time and who is goood at graphic design. the appointed person also needs to be willing to stick at it. Maps can be used in conjunction with the above to attract new players. :)

Sounds like a good Idea :). If someone has good Graphics Skills, please comforward to be appointed the new Fanatican Cartographer.
 
Aide to the VP, reporting in. Sorry, I can't be a mapmaker as I don't have either free time or graphic skills.

Can someone tell me what cities are in Esquiline province? I need to know by tommorow's t/c.

The fact that there was a prebuild which had less shield is irrelevant. This city had many many more shields stocked up, which you discarded. It would have been a far superior prebuild. You are allowed to supercede queues when it is needed, and THIS was a case where it was needed. We may loose this wonder. I would attempt to test, but that is not allowed by the constitution. If we loose it and find out the prebuild we had for Cop in Memphis could have saved it, the blood is on your hands.

Ill combine the two TC summaries into one after today's TC. My plans are to build up the Infrastructure and hopefully progress to the Industrial Age :).

The turns when on smothly as planed. The Fanatican Scientists have discovered Democracy and are onward to Economics. We had to slow down the TC due to Ekl's unplaned Trade discussions. Ekl and I had to look a way to modify the trade instructions. Unfortunately we have lost our heafty 21gpt from Persia. In other News, we are in a Smith wonder race now. After Coprenicus has been compleated in Memphis, it had to be switched to a University since the Palace-Pre Build was already in place in Gonora (Spelling) and I cannot switch it due since it was in the instructions that that particular city has to have the Palace Pre-Build.

I am conserned about the slow decline of the gpt due because of the increace in maintenence cost and corruption. I would like to have govenors at least place a Courthouse in there Build queues to counter the corruption problem.
 
Ok, here is an anlysis of our Memphis / Gorina situation.

As of 1070 AD:

Memphis needed 3 turns to complete Cop's and produced 17 shields per turn. This means Memphis had about 349 shields stored.

Gorina needed 53 turns to complete a Palace and produced 16 shields per turn. This means Gorina had about 152 shields stored.

Evidently a translation genuinely is needed, since my perfectly serious question has been studiously ignored by our esteemed president...
 
Another good turn played out. This time we have gotten more gold for our coffers. THe Smiths is going as planed and we have discovered Metallurgy. But after the discovery I had to stop the TC due because there were 2 techs that were tied in the polls. Hopefully by now one of the techs is the winner.

I can assure you that it was not just a "Balls-up". Sorry for not answering your question earlyer since I was busy typing out the TC summary. It was a Tactical desision since. 1. There is already a palace being build and 2. There are no obsolite Wonders to use as a Pre-build.
 
Not the answer I was hoping for, but since what's done is done there's not really any point in trying to beat up on you over this.

May I suggest though that if in future a situation like this arises, you switch the most advanced prebuild to a Palace regardless of other orders and then end the turn chat immediately so that the situation can be reappraised and the governors in question have the chance to write new instructions to cover the changed circumstances.
 
There is another alternative for handling this in the future. Domestic can keep an eye on the wonders other countries are building, and try to estimate (barring an investigation) their progress. If there is a city that is close to ours, an investigation could be requested to determine the exact situation.

Based on estimates, swags and investigations, Domestic can create some options for handling us not getting a wonder. They can coordinate with the various Governors, creating viable options for switching pre-builds around.

We lost a HUGE number of shields on this deal. More importantly, we lost a massive amount of time. We were a handful of turns from Cop, we're now a long way away from Smith's. Absent a plan, events like this really should stop a turn chat.
