There is only one major trade possibility that is even worthy of consideration at present, which is this:

(Fanatica) Dyes + TM + 480g / Dyes + 481g / 721g <-> Furs (China)

We also have the opportunity to sell our TM & WM to a number of other civs in exchange for fairly paltry amounts of money (less than 15g in all cases).

Finally, we have a number of current luxury trades coming up for renewal in 3 turns' time:

(Fanatica) Wines + Dyes <-> Ivory (Germany)

(Fanatica) <-> Silks (England)

(Fanatica) Dyes + Wines <-> 21gpt (Persia)

(Fanatica) <-> Spices (Japan)

Since I can find no discussion about the signing of these deals and there is no chatlog available for that session I cannot easily predict how much we'll need to pay over the odds for them. If Donsig or anyone else who was present at the July 27th turnchat knows how much we paid I would greatly appreciate them posting the information here.

As it is, I ask for the citizenry's opinion as to how much gold up front and/or gpt we should be prepared to part with in order to secure the renewal of these trades or whether we should just let them lapse and return to the forum on that turn to analyse our options in greater detail, as well as for your thoughts on carrying out the other trades mentioned in this post.

A full listing of possible trades can be found in the first post of the Trade Ministry thread

China deal - that seems like too much for one luxury.

I would have to agree, zorven. Especially since we are still at 90% happiness at this time.

However, I would part with that amount for the renewal of our three current tech deals. I haven't totally perused the save, but do we have any benign tech that we can throw in on some of these deals to save gold?

The deal with germany should hopefully be renewable without much trouble. We may even be able to get them to throw something else in, given that we're giving them two lux for one.

We have the following things available to use in trades with England: Horses / Iron / Dyes / Invention / Printing Press / Education

And the following things available for use when trading with Japan: Printing Press / Education / Gunpowder / Dyes

With regard to the Persian trade, I was thinking we might be able to stop trading them wines so that we could then add that to our side of a furs deal with China. However on inspection of the FA panel I discovered that Greece (another wine growing nation) is currently engaged in some form of trade with China and so it is quite likely that there is a furs <-> wines deal in effect between them already which would make my idea untenable. It is not 100% certain that this is the case, but quite likely nonetheless.
