I would suggest to then shop Democracy around. Either we do it, or China will. We ought to be able to get something from the other countries for it.

When we trade around democracy, several of the AI civs will go into anarchy.

We may, if we trade democracy but don't immediately revolt ourselves, be able to gain a few turns of a head start towards wonders, our next tech, etc.

Yes, let's shop Democracy for all it's worth.

Then let's use some of that money to investigate cities currently building wonders. Once we determine how far ahead or behind we are in the wonder race, we can decide whether to switch to Democracy ourselves.

I don't see why we should wait to enter Democracy. We have the happiness, we have a decent amount of infrastructure, and we don't have many military units. Why let the other civs spring ahead because of a few wonders. Let's make that leap now.

Democracy is one of those techs which will make you a mint, so get anything we can for it.

If we want to investigate others, we might want to consider opening embassies and doing the investigations pre-trade. I could be wrong about this, but there might have been a time in the past where I wanted an embassy and couldn't create one because the other civ was in anarchy. or I could be thinking about something else...
