Military Production Plee....

First, there are far to few cities with Barracks at the moment. If at all possible I would like to see a "Sun Tzu" simulated effect (ie. All or MOST cities in our civ having barracks) by the end of the term (lofty goal I know).

But Come on how much longer can we send our Knights into battle without teaching them to ride a horse, put on their armor, or weild a Sword first?

(same as above in pictograph form.... ;) )
:ninja: -> :confused: -> :help: -> :arrow: -> :egypt: <- (happy enemy)

(forgive the Smilie fest, hyper at the moment ;) )

Second, I would like to see as many Knights pumped out as possible before we get Military Tradition, right now we only have a relative few Knights, and building them will slow down a tad when they become Cavalry (only 10 more sheilds though). Right now we have 7, I'd like to see any city which can pump out just 1 Knight before we get MT, and without compromising an important imporvement do so.

We will need at least 5 Muskets as well, and preferably 10 before I feel we are ready for an offensive war.

I recognize the need for infrastructure, but our Military is severly lacking (esp. if we intend to invade Egypt in the near future). I would like all the Governors to support the military on this. Though I am happy to see, just about all productive provinces seem to have 1 military unit factory, however, I would really like a few turns where the majority of our cities are building military units to boster our forces. Even if it's only 1 step in the queue with all Improvements afterwards.

I would like to support this action. But we need to also find a way to both pump up our military and keep the Size 12 Plan going.

Quirnial I know isn't very productive and I don't expect most of the province to do much military wise, however I was still hoping some of the northern cities could do some work for this.

Addressing the Size 12 plan, I feel that the majority of cities pumping out just one Military unit before continueing with the Size 12 plan wouldn't hurt too much, especially in the more productive cities where that unit will be complete by the end of the next turn chat. DZ may have different feelings on the matter being the founder of the Size 12 plan, IIRC.

We should have most of the cities pumping out knights and assign some cities a Worker Factory Status

I have no problem with the cities benefitting from the Size 12 Plan(as well as some of our well-established cities) producing nothing but Military units if you can get buy-in from the governors.

deshelbr has pretty much drawn the lines correctly. Capitoline and Aventine should focus on military, and Esquiline and Quirinial should focus on the Size 12 Plan(and workers in gerenal --- rails will be coming soon!)

I would like to see a firm committment from the governor's to support this war and like Falc I urge you to increase the production of knights.
This war is not for personal glory but for the long term growth and prosperity of Fanatica.

You guys should post a link in all the Governors threads just to ensure that they take part in the discussion here.

Done, you know that's the first time I've done the good olde "Spamming the Government threads with a link to an important Thread" trick... ;)

Well, first of all, you spelled "plea" wrong. But on-topic, Aventine can help mightily in the production of a more modern military. Many cities in Aventine are finished with or close to finishing their requisite infrastructure, and will be producing military units during the next chat. I think that if I applied Aventine correctly, I could possibly produce 2 Knights and a Musketman every 3 turns.

That is most welcome news.
If Aventine could concentrate on producing knights, that would be great. We can upgrade the knights more speedily than we can build cavalry so knights are the priority over muskets. :)

Darn it Jim!! I'm a Tactician not a Spelling Bee Contestant!!! ;)

Anyway thanks for the support Governors, if we're to wage any war we need it.

I'm considering your plea. It's not Esquiline's destiny to act as a citadel. Esquiline's destiny is to become the cultural and financial heartland of the nation. And besides; it's far from the front so travelling to the frontlines takes ages and we aren't close to building railroads. Furthermore because both the Palace and the Forbidden Palace are far away the cities aren't very productive and very corrupt.

Of course if the nation desires barracks and knights Esquiline will do it's duty, but that would require a discussion and a poll. Until then Esquiline will focus on culture and finance.

Rik Meleet
Governor of Esquiline

I'm going to run the risk of sounding too repetitive here.

Equiline and Quirnial don't need to build military units to support this plea! They need to build workers.

Both provinces are too corrupt to effectively produce any improvement or military unit in less than four turnchats. No matter what size the population of the cities are, most are only able to produce one net shield and one net gold after corruption.

So, if Esquiline and Quirnial would change to producing workers neither their overall productivity or net gold per turn would suffer as the city size shrank.

When we switch to a democratic government the corruption will drop and productivity will grow. This will probably happen way before most of the cities in Esquiline and Quirnial will finish the courthouses in their build queue.

Most of the cities inside Aventine and Capitoline do not have a corruption problem and are limited in the rate they build military units by their slow population growth.

So, if Quirnial an Esquiline build workers, these workers would then move to Aventine and Capitoline and be used to enlarge the population of those cities.

These enlarged cities would then be more productive and more quickly produce the Military Units being asked for here. Averaging 2.5 Mil. Units per turnchat per city.

This is exactly what the Size 12 Plan asks for. Workers from Q. and E. move to A. and C. to increase the nationwide net productivity. The military department asks that A. and C.'s increased productivity be used temporarily to generate the needed Military.

Then at somepoint we switch to democracy and Q. and E. return to city improvement build queues.
