Well, the school year is about to start again in another two-three weeks depending on where you attend. I was just wondering if there was any interest in starting a new game that would likely take up most of the school year. Just a regular, seven player, standard map game. Anyone got game?

I'd love to play, but never played on the internet, so you'll have to explane that to me, but other then that, can I have Austria or Russia pls? ;)

I'd much rather play in a game here, rather than GM, but if nobody volunteers I would consider it, perhaps in a month or so.

Diplomacy Rocks!

I'll play. If this game doesn't get off the ground though, there are internet sites where you can play, such as Diplomacy 2000.

Indeed there are plenty, but it would be nice to put a civfanatic team forward to get crushed in tournaments :D

The only tournament out there is the WM, and CFC did send a team.

so that's 4 and kitten might play....still need more, common people, this is an awesom game!

I would like to play. It's fun to get back into Diplomacy after a 6-month absence (mainly due to the fact that there were no games besides the WM tourney).

I will play.

i would play if i knew the rules, ill get back to you if i can read them in time :p

Rules, if you haven't found them yet

So far we have:

EmperorSnefix - host + playing
Pontiuth Pilate - playing
Stormbringer - playing
Magnus - playing
SolarFlare - GM
naervod - playing
Sheep2 - playing
BobTheTerrible - playing

I think we have enough, we just have to work out how this will work now. Preferably we will have a GM who is not playing (Magnus has suggested himself as a possibility). EmperorSnefix, since you are the host, you need to post house rules (i.e. time per move, limits in tactics (such as impersonating GM), how we will select nations (randomly, ranking, or otherwise), etc.). If Magnus changes his mind and would rather play than GM, we need to find a GM also.

[Edit: trying to keep list updated]

i can GM if you need one, but I would prefer to play...
as for countries, lets all just see if we can agree, I'm sure not everyone wants the same country?

Here is a method I have seen work and that we can use: for the people who are playing (and we are not 100% sure of this yet, so don't until we are sure), make a list from 1 all the way to 7 of countries in order of preference; country assignments are determined from the seven lists.

BTW: I would also GM if necessary, but prefer to play.

Just a question, how do you play at civfanatics? My firend started a game, and he has a program called RealPolitik or something that we use to coordinate moves. I want to know if civfanatics uses the same program or whatever.

Maybe EmperorSnefix has a different idea in mind, but generally this is how it works. Each season, each player sends orders consisting of unit moves, possible retreats, possible builds (autumn only, of course), press, and end-game proposals if applicable, to the GM. The GM then uses RealPolitik to adjudicate the moves; then (s)he will each season make a post in the thread including the image of the units on the "board," a list of everyone's orders, and press. Then just rinse and repeat.
