Hi.

A normal Swedish guy with a great interest of history (especially Swedish war history) and - of course (otherwise I wouldn't be here) - Civilization II. That's me.

"Svea Rike". Nowadays known as "Kungariket Sverige" or - in English - "The kingdom of Sweden". "Svea Rike" is also a classic Swedish board- and computer game where you rule Sweden from 1521 when the first "real" Swedish king Gustav I Vasa seized power and drove the Danes of the country. The games goes on until the french dynasty of Bernadotte claimed the crown in 1809.

I have a dream, a dream to recreate this game and Sweden's history in a Civilization II Test of time scenario. Events such as the thirty years war or the great northern war cannot be fought in a couple of turns, and as the scenario will contain many centuries of Swedish history.. it has to be really long. Probably the longest scenario ever.

This huge project should include all wars and other events that Sweden were involved in during this time. If the Spanish civ2 site's scenarios are "Glimpes of Spain's history through Civilization II scenarios" then this scenario would be "A complete description of Sweden's history through ONE Civilization II scenario." (No offence Spaniards, just a comparison ;))

This is not a one man's job. I will need help. Loads of help. From you guys. Yes, I mean you. Graphics artists, hex-coders or what you ever are. I need YOUR help. Help me create the biggest, best, most well planned, funniest, most good looking civilization II scenario the world has ever seen before the games dies. Wouldn't such a project be a nice way to honour this great game?

Sign up in this thread and let me know if you are interested in creating the greatest scenario ever. If enough people shows their interest I will write a complete description of the scenario itself in this thread, and then perhaps we could start creating it.

Yours,
Rebellion

one problem, not many people have ToT, I don't think, so it might be hard to find people to help you, if this were MGE, I would gladly help you with anything I can

Okay, I have ToT but I ain't so good at it BUT I want to help you anyway since I am very into swedish history and have much knowledge about it.

Förresten, du har inte MSN Messenger eller nåt så vi lättare kan prata där? :)

Maybe two versions could be made? One for ToT and one for MGE or FW :)

techumseh: Very kind of you, thanks. :)

Henrik: Thanks for the information, didn't know that.

Okay me and Rebellion has decided to make this project together. But we need your help. Any ideas are welcome, especially from you that now much about swedish history.

Anyone willing to create graphics for us?

Also we have decided to make this for MGE because not so many play ToT.

Sounds great, but won't it be hard to have all wars from 1520-1809 with only one set of units/events?

I'll be happy to help with what I can.

I released a scenario about the Swedish war in Poland in 1655 some time ago which perhaps could give some ideas (that scenario tried to incorporate the entire european theatre, so that foreign nations might interfere, and I imagine it was somewhat more openended than this project might be ;))
Nevertheles, there might be something worth salvaging in there :)

Also there are some excelent scenarios by Vegard Bjørketun about the great nordic war and Gustav IIIs war against Russia (under the names of Casus Belli I and II).
