Assuming we capture Grozny, fend of the Russians and retain peace soon, it is time now to decide what we are going to do after that.

Options:
- Declare war on the Aztecs and destroy them. After that remove the Greeks and America (order can change) from our island.
- Go the science way; first make money and build economics and research. Trade for tech parity (with the aid of ToE) and play trader.
- Prepare for an invasion on the Babs / Persians / Chinese / Germans or whoever, while signing MA's and MPP's to plunge this world in a World War.
- Steal or research till UN or Spaceship and use prebuild to win that way.

This is important because now we have to decide what to put in the Buildqueues and this discussion should be our guide.

I think we have enough cities for now but we may want to destroy another civ later on if they get ahead of us in the Tech race

Science way, but try to either Amass the gold or build the units to finally finish the spear upgrade. Not to mention build a barracks in EVERY major city.

I think the absolute furthest we should go with conquest is taking our entire continent. After that, (or wherever we agree to stop wars) take the science way.

I think at this point we should focus on building our infrastructure and a good military. Once we have done this, all other options are available to us.

I'm agreeing with donsig at this point. We won't benefit from any more conquest, let's keep our focus on what we've got, and dominate the research tree.

As President, I shall endeavor to kept Fanatica out of military conflict. Our scientists will continue to see the funding needed to keep our technological lead on our foes. The lives of our citizens will be enriched by the Fanatican Railroad and the continuing efforts to develop the land of our fair country!

As another thought, I would like to see the upcoming debates have some focus on the goals the candidates have for the position they are running for.

Of course, Rik Meleet will have a lot of talking to do!

I also agree with Donsig; all the land we need need is ours. Build up our nation and go peaceful from here.

If we ever get involved in an overseas war; ignore it and fend of the foreign troops landing (build catapults/canon/artilery. If we get involved in a war on our continent, send in the cavs to raze those cities; they are worth nothing to us and if we have too many cities our core will get corrupt; and workers are always useful (if only for colonies). The other Civs will be eager to reclaim the then free lands and settle there, far away from their Capitol or Forbidden Palace.

Get money, culture and science going to trade for techs and head to a Space Race victory (as we long long ago, in April, decide to try to achieve (Remember this poll?). Any other victory would count to me as a loss. "We couldn't win a game in a way we wanted to".

Preparing 100 speeches.

I think that the conquest of the whole continent, though desireable, would not be desireable to the citizens of this game. I would favor a conquest sometime in the relatively distant future of the Aztecs or Greece.

I personally don't wanna have to do that. But, I'll go witht the DG1 policy, if they attack us first, we're taking spoils, and they WILL regret it (assuming we have the forces at the time).

That's a naieve thought. If a child does something wrong it's better to teach them why it is wrong so they won't do it again out of knowledge then to severely punish them so they don't do it again out of fear.

If the other civs do us wrong we should explain that we don't like it and give them time-out for a while; not destroy them. Let's say bombard their coastal tiles; cut their roads, fire an ICBM etc. No need to take cities.

I'm not saying "DESTROY THEM!!!" I'm saying take cities or even just fight them until they see reason.

Spoils shall be taken either in battle or in negotiations, we can't let any civ "boss" us around.

This was always my policy in DG1 (just more often then not the people asked for their elimination). I just feel that this policy is a good one and should continue.

Although the empire is quite large enough for now, there is one remaining reason we might need to grab a little more. If a needed resource is not available and we don't have a trade opportunity, it might be necessary to take what we need.

Other than that, the best bet is to get ahead in tech and make sure we have enough production capacity to build the spaceship parts fastest when the time comes.

I doubt we won't be able to trade (unless by war) but yes, that should be our main motivation for declaring any future war. Expansion isn't needed anymore.

Fire an ICBM? Wouldn't it be interesting to have a nuclear war in the demogame?

It was meant as a joke but I am willing to start a discussion on that when the time has arrived. It would be fun, at least an interesting ending.

I am sure I can redesign the laborers and tiles to make our cities very productive and we can soon be tech leader, production leader and safe from invasion by building around 20 artillery.

My motto (for this era is) "Expand Inward"

I would advocate a war to claim a resource only if we could not secure it through trade. And even then that would be the only objective.

Once we take Grozny, we should be in a great position to maximize all of our cities. We should have set goals for cities based on shield output -- low spt cities build workers, high spt cities build units, factories etc. We also need to realize that every city does not need to be fully developed.

If we succeed in maximizing our cities we will have no problem leading the way in research, and we'll still be able to raise a military to respond to any type of situation. We should put our days of picking fights behind us.
