GOTM 32

Games will be due on October 11th.

Be sure to send in the required saves {One from AD 1, AD 1000, and a save just before you would finish the game} to Duke of Marlbrough.

:( I found the catch. Took a few turns. This is gonna be a long game. Hint: build lots of engineers!! Oh yeah, don't be too thrilled if you get two movers in your first huts.......:eek:

buähhh. I made a bad start. A really bad start. Now I try to keep up with the other civs, but i already missed Oracle, GreatWall and Great Library. Thats no good. The only good thing is, that for the first time, I managed to share maps with my opponents. So at least I know, where they are.
One thing I dont understand: Whatever I try I cannot make my cities celebrate, although I'm in Republic already and some of my cities have happy people only. What do I do wrong?
Is there anyone who could help?

To increase city size via celebration you need:
- to be in Republic or Democracy (not just have the tech);
- to have at least half of the citizens happy (step up from regular content);
- to have NO unhappy or very unhappy citizens (red or black);
- to have at least one surplus food sheaf in the center (number in the right-hand Food Box does not matter).
This applies to EACH city separately.

Any more discussion of the current state of your game really belongs in the Spoiler thread. These kinds of technical questions can be asked there or in the Strategy and Tips forum.

Hmm, 12:33 AM and I finaly discover the September GOTM.

I have some questions before playing. What version of civ are we using? Vanilla, FW, or Conflicts of the World?

:hmm: I could have swarn I saw Mara in Maria Theresa, but I guess the late night visions are starting ;).

Alexxx - you may actually be celebrating. I noticed the same then noticed that in one of the option menus the 'We Love the King' box was unchecked so it won't tell you when you are celebrating.

Thanks to ElephantU, Old'n Slow and Jayne for your answers.
I will recheck everything in the evening.
I've posted the rest in the Spoiler-Thread....

Bed time, or coffee time?

If you want easier diplomacy with the AI, go with vanilla 2.4.2. If you want easier war-starting, go with MGE. Avoid the others.

Mara, as in the Marags? Do you read David Eddings?

I mean Mara as in Mara Jade from Star Wars ;). Hmm, would CFC have the latest patch for Civ2 eventhough I have FW and Conficts of the World Expantions?

FW = Fantastic Worlds

Well done Zenon :goodjob:
Grigor, golem and myself finish around 150 turns, but you are more than 20 turns ahead :eek:

Thank you, La Fayette! I think building MPE early in this game was my best decision. I traded maps and techs on the way to Monotheism and then knew what to do. :)

Zenon

I'm going to HAVE to learn how to do these things faster -- maybe I should seriously work at EL #6.
