er1-Vanilla Civ3 1.29f Monarch

I'd like to start an SG for those of us with vanilla civ3. Monarch level, the rest of the parameters to be determined.

24 hours to say "got it", 48 hours to play your turn. I would like for everyone to wait until 24 hours after the save is posted so everyone gets a chance to discuss the current situation. Screenshots and detailed turn-logs would also be very nice, especially in the early game.

Diplomatic victory will probably be turned off.

I am thinking there will probably be room for 5 or 6 people, since sometimes things come up and someone can't continue or needs to be skipped.

Oh yeah, no exploits.

Have you thought about what the "rest of the parameters" you'd like your game to be? Goal? Variant?

Sir Bugsy, I was thinking about a fairly straight up Monarch game for my first SG. If you guys have a preference for landmass type etc. or any minor variants let's discuss it. Also think about what civ you'd like to play as, map size, opponents, etc.

I'm assuming we'll use standard size map. Random settings? Roaming barbs?

I currently have games going using the Persians, India, & America. So any civ besides these are fine with me. I'd preffer Japan(samaris kick @ss) and their Military/religious, two traits I rarely use.

I'm up for anything though.

Standard size map and random settings sounds fine with me. Roaming barbs is good, I've never played with harder barb settings. I try to vary the civs I play as so I won't become too dependant on any particular civ traits. I've played as Japan a couple of times, samarais do kick @ss.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

I have no problem playing Jap, though personally I prefer riders. The rest sounds good.

Eric, as our fearless leader, you have the privilege of starting us off. Why don't you set the roster and roll the dice.

Why don't you go with whatever start the computer gives you the first time, even a lousy one. That might be part of the fun.

Hmmm, I was thinking of restarting if it gave us a really crappy start. But your idea is interesting

We are the Japanese, standard map, roaming barbs, everything else random. Diplomatic victory disabled. Hope I'm not forgetting anything.

Hopefully we can have some discussion in the 24hrs before Sir Bugsy gets us started.

This is the first start position the Civ gods gave us. It doesn't look too bad, but I do see some tundra up north.
