Citizens of Fanatica! A grand and glorious age is drawing near! The Hoover Dam, both exalted and ridiculed in our press is over 50% complete! It's construction represents the effort of thousands of citizens throughout our land working to make it possible. The electricity it produces will power ALL our cities for the foreseable future!

And so, we draw nearer and nearer to what is being deemed "The Modern Age". We will have a great many options presented to us, especially with new wonders! I want to start planning NOW for that age, and prepare several cities for these wonders.

We will learn Refining in 2 turn. Assuming we continue at a pace of 8 turns per tech, and research only required techs, we will enter the Modern Age in under 50 years. Of the 4 entry techs, two of them grant wonders. These wonders are the SETI Project (+50% science in that city) Manhatten Project (All countries can make Nuclear Weapons) and The United Nations. Personally, I could care less about the Manhatten Project. Let the AI build it - it's only 2 culture per turn and we will get the same benefit.

The UN and SETI Program though, Fanatica should be the builder. The UN is the most important to prevent an untimely end to the game. The SETI project represents a 50% increase in science output for that cities. A nice boost in research, allowing us to keep more of our income.

I want to identify the sites for the UN and SETI within a week. We will then focus on improving those two cities. developing their production capacity and infrastructure. If we start now, we have the time to do this right. We can upgrade these cities without large cash rushes.

As the last few wonders have been completed in Capitoline, I would like to see at least one, and would love to see both wonders completed outside of Capitoline - let us share the benefits of these national projects to all our provinces! If we can find the sites, all three wonders would be great!

Both the UN and the SETI Program are 1000 shield wonders. We need to identify cities with the potential for large populations, high shield production and low to moderate corruption. These cities will need to have Courthouses, Marketplaces, Cathedrals, Factories, Aquaducts and Hospitals.

Let's find those cities, and start the process now!

UN should be first priority to delay a Diplo Victory.

after that SETI in our best sheild/gold producing city.

While I agree since the last two Wonders were built in my province, it would be fair to build the UN elsewhere. However, SETI's building location should NOT be based on province at all. I don't want to see our SETI go to waste on a city that will gain less then another high sheild producing city in Science. If that's in Capitoline, so be it, if it's elsewhere, build it there. SETI isn't a wonder which has the same effect regardless of where it's built, site location is VERY important

EDIT: SETI doesn't put a Research lab in all cities, that's Internet you're thinking of, SETI is another "Increase City's Science by 50%" Wonder.

Oh. Yeah. Uhhhhhhh, post edited. Nothing to see here! We are a hedge, please move along ...

Thanks for the correction!

[shameless plug]I think that one of these should go into Aventine.[/shameless plug] Aventine has been kinda short-changed over the years as far as Wonders go (except for the Iron Works and the Memphisian attempts), despite being as developed as Capitoline. I think that Aureus would be a great place for the UN one it gets, and I stress this, IMPROVED. Aureus could rival the great Gorina for shield production if proper attention is paid to improving it. It has 8 Hills in its radius which have not been improved at all, and Forests that could be chopped down and irrigated to provide LOTS of food.

UN, I agree should probobly be built in Aventine.

However, as I Said before SETI's placement should be based on city stats alone not province.

We should build the UN in Eather Aventine or Nar Shaddaa

Aureus would be an ideal spot, but we would need to begin preparations immediately.

These preparations would include:

Mining the hills
Railing the hills
Chopping down forests
Irrigating over mines
Adding workers to Size 20 the city

Seems like a lot of work, but would yield big time.

Another great site would be Iron Hills. As far as aesthetics, it's a bit of a remote place to host foreign diplomats, but close enough to all the other continents to make it seem justified. Once again, much work to get it up to speed, but Iron Works will help.

However, the best thing to do will be to look at our production numbers once we have built Hoover Dam. Doing so will give us a fairly accurate assessment which cities we should focus on.

Bah, the only city which wonders should go in is Slice of Bacon....

well, everyone else is giving shameless plugs, so I figured I would too..... :D

Seriously, Iron Hills would be the best, what with the Iron Works and all.

I could be wrong, but doesn't Hoover Dam affect all cities equally? It will shorten the amount of time to build everything else, but won't affect the relative differences in shield production between cities.

The best way to build two of the three wonders is to start a palace prebuild in the 2nd best shield producer (not the best one!) early enough that it will almost be finished when Fission is discovered. The next biggest available build should be almost completed in the highest production city at the same time.

When we complete Fission, put the palace prebuild on UN and the other high producer on Manhattan Project. Research Computers and then shift MP to Seti.

It can be done the other way around (Seti in palace prebuild city, UN in high shield one) if we are willing to take the chance of delaying UN a little. This is only really important if the science output difference is large.

I see you can do the discussion well yourselves, no need for my input.

Advice: Make a list of the 10 cities with the highest spt, their size and their potential and what spt-producing buildings they have.

We need that anyway later on when coordinating the parts for our "Depart to the starts".

And we need some ICBM's; to fire at the capitols of all uptil then surviving civs. :satan: :devil2:

Sorry, ' bout leavin' ya all, but this planet is way too poluted. You do need to clean up better after some ICBM's land on your Capitols. Look at our Capitol; no pollution.

What do you mean Fanatican ICBM's ? Dunno 'bout them, See ya!

Actually, Dave, my reasoning for this was so that we don't have too much production and end up completing a wonder we don't have tech for yet. ;)

However, I do agree with your second paragraph. Start our first wonder in the Producer #2 and have the Top Producer catch up so we get them at about the same time. I like it! :goodjob:

Hoover Dam puts a Hydro plant in every city on the continent. A Hydro plant increases Factory ouput by 50%.

I think we need an estimate on getting these techs first before we start planning prebuilding though.

No sence in starting a Palace Prebuild to have the Palace finish the turn before we actually get Fission or Computers.

EDIT:
Top Sheild City stats are thus...

Gorina - 52
Penguinadua - 40
Tyvek - 39
Noshuret - 37
Regia Doughnutia - 31
Aureus - 30
Memphis - 30
Iron Hills - 28

below that sheild production goes down to 21 and lower

Top Science production at 40% (sci. rate as of last game)

Gorina - 42
Memphis - 28
Noshuret - 26
New Jedina - 24
Neapolis - 24
Skunkworks - 24
Tyvek - 24
Inadatto - 22

By these stat's I'd say Gorina is the best site for SETI and Regia Doughnutia, Aureus, and Memphis are the best locations for the UN. (taking into account the high number of wonders in Capitoline).

Apollo should also probobly be placed in one of the above cities suggested for UN (assuming by then theses stats don't change too much.)
