Gorina is set to build SETI, but will probably not finish it in time as Berlin has a head start.

Gorina can switch to Manhattan Project.

Donovan Zoi has suggested (as Manhattan Project doesn't really fit in the CAMELOT AWARD winning city of Gorina), to switch Aureas to Manhattan Project and Gorina to The United Nations.

Now I come to think of it, The UN does suit Gorina better and doesn't harm any Wonders lost or gained.

To comment honestly, seethe Gorina thread

As Mayor of Gorina, I whole-heartedly agree. I thank Donovan Zoi for the suggestion and you, Rik Meleet for once again raising the torch for Gorina. I too believe that our fair city should be the key city that other nations come to when they meet at the UN. This Wonder meshes nicely with our World Class reputation. Let the rest of the world know that we want them to visit one of the high ranking cities of world when they come to participate in an effort for peace.

That sounds good to me :D

Oh well... :(, I guess it suits Gorina better..

While I admire the people of Gorina, I would like to point out that, when the initial poll deciding where to build the UN was held, the arguements for Gorina to become a top 5 city were put forth.

They failed.

Gorina has a significant number of wonders already - it is time for the citizens of Gorina to give up their self-centered ways, and allow another city of Fanatica to benefit from a cultural wonder.

I call upon the Governors to realize that this poll itself is an outrage! Should we continually poll every decision over and over again until the desired result is achieved? No - this should not stand!

The people of Fanatica have already decided this issue - build the UN in Aureus. This is nothing more than a way to circumvent an decision that was already made. I am disgusted at this deliberate attempt to sabotage a previous decision that is still valid.

With all due respect, Ravensfire, I brought up my request purely for aesthetic reasons. I did this in the spirit of building on the previous successes of one of the grandest cities in DemoGame history. It was never my intent to circumvent any previous poll or to stack the deck in one city's favor, as you charge.

Simply stated, Gorina has just been presented with the Camelot Award by entering the Top 5 cities. Even more amazing is the fact that it already stands at #4. With all of the festivities surrounding this grand event in the City of Gorina thread, do we really want to put a blemish on the city's honor by building the destructive Manhattan Project there?

Not that I have any problem with our obtaining this wonder --- someone is going to build it; might as well be us. But, honestly.....don't you feel that Aureus, traditionally a military producer, would be a better home for Manhattan Project? And if we are going to welcome diplomats from all over the world to the UN, wouldn't it be best to have them meet in a world class city that houses the Sistine Chapel, Universal Suffrage and other Great Wonders?

But I reiterate, this is all purely for aesthetics. To me, culminating Fanatica's grand achievement with the most vile Wonder in the game would be a major letdown. But then again, I guess you would rather nuke Gorina into the top spot by raining nuclear havoc on Babylon, Athens and Washington. For shame.

Nar Shaddaa can house the Manhattan Project.

Oh yeah! I forgot about that! The people already decided that the UN was going to be built in AUREUS, period.

You can always bring up a new poll based on new information, Inter32. And losing SETI to Germany qualifies. Why the hardline stance, everyone?

Sorry for the over-the-top response - my bad.

However, I am still against this plan. First, this switch does not gain Fanatica anything - it is purely for the benefit of Gorina. As one of our earliest cities, it has many supporters. Aureus has none, so I must step up for it. During my term, Aureus developed from a decent city, to one of Fanatica finest.

It is not right that when, on the verge of completing a great cultural wonder, it is stripped of that honor, and given a project rejected by the very city that is taking the UN from Aureus.

Citizens - I ask you. Is that fair? Is that right? Ask yourself that question. If you were a resident of Aureus, how would you feel about a project your city has been working on for turns is taken away, and you are given the scraps from another city.

That is why I am opposed to this. This switch is purely for the benefit of one city, and one city only. The decision was made once to not build the UN in Gorina. We should honor that decision now. To do otherwise sets a precedent for this, and future demogames. Lose a poll? Just wait a bit and try again. Where is the justice in that?

How does this affect the construction of the UN in Aureus? It does not. I admire the mayor and citizens of Gorina for fighting for their city. But this action is not right. Why is the Manhattan Project is not good enough for Gorina, but just fine for Aureus?

As the Public Defender of Fanatica - I will defend those without advocates. The citizens of Aureus have rights, and most importantly pride. This action tramples on both.

I can certainly see your point, Ravensfire. I am a huge fan of Aureus and its strong people as well. I guess my main reason for starting this controversy is that I do not want to see Manhattan Project built in Gorina. It undermines everything the great city has stood for all these years. Then again, if I had my way, none of our noble cities would build this vile wonder.

I haven't investigated, but I am certain that a poll exists that will bring the Apollo Program to Iron Hills. Is there any possibity for a switch there? You can't possibly convince me that a remote locating such as that wouldn't be the perfect place to stealthily begin research our nuclear ambitions? We waste a few shields, but Gorina builds Apollo Program next turn and we could begin the Space Race immediately.

As you can see, I am willing to compromise. Is there any way I can persuade you to get behind this proposal?

I would be behind a decision to switch Gorina to the Apollo Project; the faster we complete this game the better.

Uhhh, that would be me.
(I'm the only resident)

DZ - I would absolutely support such a switch. Iron Hills is a perfect spot for our scientists to create this deadly weapon we have been hearing of. And for Gorina, city of Knowledge, to be the site of our first space launch - perfect!

Excellent. :)

Spirited debate followed by compromise for the good of all. It's what keeps me coming back for more. :D

I am interested in hearing from more of the citizenry on this matter but we should probably make it official by putting this to vote by mid-Saturday, no?

And it has been build in Aureus; but the poll didn't state it had to be COMPLETED there.

So this proposal isn't invalid or unfair.

And furthermore; If you don't like the proposal od the UN, I secifically asked for suggestions as the name of this thread is: What to switch Gorina to? and I only posted a suggestion.

Well, good. It looks like a compromise has been worked out. Inter32 will get his UN Wonder. Iron Works will be switched to the Manhattan Project, and Gorina's change will be finalized to the Apollo Program. We seem to have smoothed over the rough edges. Hopefully, we can get the 6 or so tanks removed from Gorina's build que also. ;)

I would like to thank eveyone involved for their effort in resolving this situatation. We can now move forward.
