1) Does anyone know if there is any truth to the rumor that you can have unique civ city graphics (but I guess not for culture groups)?.
Hi Ekmek,
may be these rumours have to do with my "Invisible cities" threads. The idea behind is simple. You set the city-graphics.pcx (for example, rAMER.pcx for the American culture) to transparency (magenta) and build a city over a special resource. You get an "invisible city" (where you can only see the city borders), the information about this city, the resource inside the city squares, and a unit (if there is a unit in the city). An additional reason for an invisible city is to have a platform for launching offensives, producing, repairing and upgrading units on a tile where you don't want to see a city.
(military, naval and air bases, named beachheads, named fortresses which produce units and so on). May be its a good idea, to set only the center of the city graphics to transparency so you can see the "Cityresource in the center and some houses from the culturs group around it.
I attache some screenshots from the editor (invisble Cities 2 /USA was too large). Please note that the Cityresources with names on them were created to fix the problem in "expanding" mods like Rhye´s that the cities are on the wrong places with the wrong names. Resourcecities on scenarios with preplaced cities (TeTurkan, all WW 2 Mods) are much easier to handle.
Edited: Uff, just have seen, this post was from 2003
