FFX-2

Just finished chapter 1 of FFX-2... and stopped.

It's not quite like FFX... particularly, the pace of the battle was quite chaotic and fast. They did away with turn-based, and moved to a more realtime format... Even with the 'wait' mode, it's still quite fast. I suppose one can get used to it... but... <shrugs>

The job change is cool - but they did away with weopan and armor slots. Instead they had 2 slots for accessories. Not sure if an accessory can hold more than 1 'benefit' right now. Definitely less of an 'equipment-gathering' game.

Graphics is excellent, as expected. What do you think - it's an FF game... Yuna's and Rikku's new clothes... er... rocks.

Story-wise, it's ok so far. Quite humorous at times. Particularly how 'Brother' is always all over Yuna. Also Yuna's moogle 'disguise' during the mission to expose the false Yuna holding a concert in Luca was wickedly funny.

Rikku still as wacky and bubbly as ever, despite having more hair... Paine is sort of like Auron, I guess.

Overall, the mission-style format is quite good, allowing you to take up missions as you pls, or else do your own thing. Lots of mini-games as well.

You'll be revisiting lots of familiar places and old faces too, so lots of nostalgia. Surprisingly, how some of the FFX guys turn out...

It's looks good so far, but will have to explore deeper for a final word.

bah, it hasn't even reached new zealand yet.

Yeah, I share somewhat similar sentiments - playing FFTA now instead...

Waiting for FFXII instead.

XIII, what didja say about Ivalice? FF12 is there? Ivalice is from another FF game... Quite possibly the original FFT...

Ivalice is the name of the kingdom where the action takes place in FFTA. I dunno about FFT...

In FF XII, the world is called Ivalice (same world, diff time period) and there'll be other races like Bangaa and Viera (like in FFTA). The Judges are the bad guys now...

I wonder if FF12 will be tactics-ish...

My buddy bought the Strategy Guide... Still seems to uh, feminine for me. I'm not getting into it like other FF games. Dancing, singing, when do I get to pick flowers? Meh.

The opening dancing, singing was by an imposter, of the LeBlanc gang. The real Yuna was running around in a moogle suit.

I find the side-games pretty ok - like the machina dig on Bikanel island. And the entire Calm Lands is now a games park, but with the random encounters still on. No wonder they keep losing customers...

To each his own then. Truth to tell, I find it pretty boring as well...

One question, must u pay to play online on the PS2? And what do i need to play? could get a cable connection to it but i'd have to go and buy another 100foot cable line to run from the router(cable box) to my room :/

That's up to the game developer/publisher. FFXI has a monthly fee for examle.

Clear a few things up. Ivalice is the kingdom in the orginal FF Tactics(my favorite of the entire series, actually), I've yet to play Tactics Advance, although my sister has it and I'll probably do it over Christmas break. FFXI has not been released in the US, to my knowledge, as we don't really have the number of people with their PS2's connected to broadband as other parts of the world. Although it might spur an increase in such connections..hmm...

As for X-2, my sister will probably get it, and I'll give it a try, but from the reviews I'm not expecting much. If FF12 is designed like Tactics was, I'm going to be the happiest clam in the ocean. I just hope I've graduated by then, or I'll start failing all my classes because I'm playing it.
