I think this poll is somewhat flawed.

You cannot generalise the Chinese as EAST,
And the USA as WEST,

Many people in Europe (myself included) would be insulted to
be represented under some name of being "USA-West"!

Also I think many Japanese and Eastern Russians would make the
same protest at being sided with China!

No offence, but I think you have banded everyone together,
in a misleading way.

I cannot vote on your poll either, I think ALL of humanity
has contributed to Humanity.

China has many ancient and grand glories to it's name,
But America has also created many cultural ties withn the
world. So your can't really say who is better...

No one is better than another...

Although in the CIV game it is another matter!
 
U r wrong curt, do u heard the quote saying taht "When there is no competition,there is no improvement".I WAS WRONG to put China -East and US West !By competiting there will be far more improvement,this poll is just wanna know how the 2 nation has progressed so far!

Well....Europe is a seperate region from the USA,
and we have more identity than just being known as
"WEST"!

You make millions of people sound like some minor add-on
for america or china!

I'd have to say USA. Airplanes, asembly lines, interchangable parts, the internet etc. Not that China didn't do more than it's share in ancient times (paper, gunpowder etc.). USA wins out though because it's improvements have transformed the world over the last century. (I know, other countries have had an impact too)

Well regarding about the game Chinese abilities are more than Industrious and Military ,they can be said Scientific too!We invented PAPER,hell how are human going to progress without paper?We can be said Commercial too.U know the Capital of China during the Tang Dynasty Changan is the best city in the world.It outperformed Rome do u know that?A lot of people from the west,India,Arabia ,Korea.Japan come there to trade.Regarding commercial ,we are the best commercial civilisations during the ancient times !We had contributed to lots of countries through the trade
 
All I can say is that this poll is incredibly flawed - either for the game or for the history. If it's the game, you shld have incl the 14 other civs at least. And there are already a huge host of "what's the best civ?" threads and polls lying in the Civ3 Civilisation forum.

And if you want to talk about history, then this thread shld be in the history forum and you have missed out contributions fr peoples like the Sumerians, Greeks, Persians, Muslims, Indians, Romans, Egyptians and so on who had contributed mightily to human science and technology as well.

Still I have voted for China. In short, w/o Chinese inventions, it may not be possible to reach our present stage of technological development at this stage in our history.

Yes, I realized too that because the Chinese civ has been around for so long, every civ specific ability can be used at certain stages in the long history of China. In the beginning during the Qin, Han and Tang, the Chinese were militaristic and expansionist. Then during the Song, the Chinese were commercial, industrious and scientific. During the interregnum betw the end of the Han and the rise of the Sui (the Chinese Dark Ages), the Chinese could be described as religious (cos of accepting a foreign religion called Buddhism).

However Civ3 is a game so chill out and enjoy your game! You can always change the attributes if you don't like them using the game editor. ;)
 
Only the mods can edit the polls. And I think there are already a few self-same polls of this kind existing in this very same forum if you are talking game-wise. We don't really need another one.

If you're talking history-wise, you can drop into the history forum and start a new thread and poll there. That's where all the history-conscious ppl hang out anyway. ;)
