Hello everyone,

This is my first map I have created. Explanation to follow. For Conquests expansion(version 1.12)

Ivid

Update: After more playtesting, I made some changes.

1. I edited the civs to fit their fantasy counterparts as close as I could; added Oerth city/leader names and such. Changed some start locations, changed names on some of the wonders and units. I used what little source material I have for leader names and such; if nothing was found I made some up...

2. I played different setups and found that 8-14 civs work the best.

3. I changed some terrain and added/deleted some resources after reading my source books in depth.

As aways, feel free to use the conquests editor to change anything you want..

Regards, Ivid

I used an old full-color hex map that came with the original world of Greyhawk boxed set as a reference. I made 2 major edits: I created a seaway in the extreme north to connect the Dramidj ocean with the icy sea (for the seafaring civs) feel free to replace with tundra, desert or whatever to represent the land of black ice that continues off the map to the north. I created an "eden" in the sea of dust (SW corner); I just could'nt let that real estate go to waste! Replace with desert for accuracy. Again, edit anyway you want to suit your taste. I welcome any comments. Attached is a screenshot.

Thanks!

The only D&D I've played have been the Nintendo game and Neverwinter Nights.. so I have no clue on this map. However it looks EXCELLENT! I like the land and seaforms, this would make a fun map to play on, I'm gonna download this right away. :goodjob:

It's nice to see that someone out there still remembers AD&D when it first arrived via the Grewhawk and Blackmoor pamphlets. I'll definitely be trying this one. Long live Oerth!

Thanks!

Thanks for the encouragement everyone! I am working on a Forgotten realms map also; I have much more source material for it. It will take awhile though because the realms are huge!

Nice work. Any chance you might do Krynn? or Hollow World?

Well, I won't be needing any other maps ever again!

I have no idea what you guys are all talking about, but I'm sure I won't need to know to be able to play a good game on the map.

I hadn't been playing Civ3 for awhile, then I decided to dust off C3C (mind you, I haven't even touched any of the conquests - yikes). I was looking through the created maps, and as an old-school D&D player, this piqued my curiosity. While I haven't played D&D in years, this really brought me back. A fantastic map that I played a lot over the weekend. I'll probably replay once I'm done (and I'll probably be playing this map out until Future Era).

Thanks for giving me a playable map for a long time to come!

I'm glad you are enjoying it, El Tee! The great thing is, you can use the editor to change terrain, resources and such to fit your style of play. I made it mainly out of nostalgia, but I suppose with the unique downloadable units at this great civ site, you could make a decent mod scenario. I just don't have the time at this point. Afterall, it was'nt meant to be a hardcore fullblown mod, just something to tinker with...

Regards,
Ivid

great work!
I've been planning to work on a mod based on the original boxed set (up to From the Ashes) and from your posts, it seems you wouldn't mind people using this map. This map cuts my time frame in half at least :) Any suggestions from when you play tested it - things you didn't have time to adjust, etc...? Anything would be appreciated. One thing is that huge seems to be an understatement. Any reason you went so big on this map?
Also, if anyone has any suggestions (Oerth specific) let me know.
