What should we build first in our capitol? Second? Third? We will have a city shortly, let's talk about it's build queue!

one warrior for defense, then loads of settlers!!

True.

Not just for exploration, but also for defending future cities.

But then again, these future cities will have productivity themselves, so maybe this discussion shouldn't go further than the first 3 units.

In such case, I'd say Warrior, Settler, Warrior.
Not two warriors at first, as the Minister of Defense has suggested somewhere.

I agree with Governor Plexus' proposed Warrior, Warrior, Settler.

Having a Settler second in the build queue is too early, as our capital will most likely not reach size 3 in time. Plus, having 2 Warriors scout out the situation will make for a safer migration for our people.

Finally, I don't feel that we need to defend our city right away. Let's uncover what we can of our surroundings with the two Warriors. Their findings will help us to find the best location for our next city.

Yeah, building only building one warrior will be two early, but I say use the first one for exploration and the second for defense.

Unless, of course, the warrior discovers an undefeatable amount of barbarians, in which case he should return to our capital immediately.

True, but it shouldn't take but maybe 8 turns to build both warriors (If I'm thinking right, 5 for first, 3 for second)

Warrior, Warrior, Settler is probably the best for our first three builds. We want to be able to defend against barbs, but also to explore, and I feel that we can hold off on the settler until we have two warriors.

warrior warrior warrior, the first one to explore, the second one to do light exploring, but stake out a place for the next city, and third for defending the capitol (barbs random)

Anyone care to calculate how large our capitol will be when the first settler is ready if we build warrior/warrior/settler? I'm just wondering if we can figure out whether we will need military police or not to quell unhappiness. Of course, if we go the minimum science rate we could always up the lux rate to keep the people contnent...

If we wind up irrigating the wheat, as the President proposes, it will not achieve its maximum food output as we will still have the minus one food penalty of being in despotism. Even so, The amount of food produced will send our pop count skyrocketing. If we build one settler first to gaurd against the GH having Barbs, and then send it "light-scouting" around the city while we send the worker North to invetigate the plains, it would be much more efficient.

Build one warrior and then Settlers until we don't want to expand anymore. Even building this way, I'm sure our population would grow at such a rate that the capital would grow too fast for not having a Temple. Read = unhappiness. After we have scouted the North (at least clearing the black away to see city locations), we can bring the worker back to do some roading.

Anyway, using this srtategy, I say warrior, settler, settler, settler.

Well again, this should depend on what tech we research.

If Math then go Warrior, Warrior, Warrior, (Barracks? Prebuild if we get Pottery through trade), Settler

If Pottery go Warrior, Warrior, Warrior, Barracks Prebuild for granary, switch to granary, then settler.

why three warriors? Three reasons, we want an early war, exploration, extra defense.

I, of course, advocate my current queue of Warrior, Warrior, Settler. This will allow for exploration and later, an escort for our settler.

We'll start out at +4 food, giving growth in 5, and a warrior at 1 spt will take 10 turns. This will sound crazy, but the first worker move needs to be mining a BG, because we'll start off with way too much food and not enough shields.

Math wise, it looks like 1-2 warriors and a settler, just because mining will take so long before the shield count gets up.

I like to start with 3 warriors. First two go explore and the last to protect our capital.

And lets build one settler before granary. This early settler is important to build the second city as soon as possible.

Crazy? Not a chance! We will have, at least for the short term, a strong excess of food. Our concern should be shield production. Mining both of the BG's is an absolute priority to help us grow faster.

Use the worker to mine (and road) both BG's, then go from there.

I agree that we may have to build a settler early just because our population could get out of control. I support warrior/settler/warrior

I agree that it should be polled!
